Point Pleasant Beach is a Borough located in Ocean County, New Jersey. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough had a total population of 5,314.

Geography

Point Pleasant Beach is located at 40°5'30" North, 74°2'42" West (40.091565, -74.045032)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.5 km² (1.7 mi²). 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 16.28% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,314 people, 2,317 households, and 1,316 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,424.8/km² (3,696.0/mi²). There are 3,558 housing units at an average density of 954.0/km² (2,474.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 95.94% White, 0.53% African American, 0.34% Native American, 1.02% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.47% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 4.40% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,317 households out of which 22.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.3% are married couples living together, 9.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.2% are non-families. 36.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.96.

In the borough the population is spread out with 19.2% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 19.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 101.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.9 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $51,105, and the median income for a family is $61,250. Males have a median income of $40,507 versus $37,500 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $27,853. 6.1% of the population and 5.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.9% of those under the age of 18 and 6.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

the Mayor of Point Pleasant Beach is Thomas Vogel. members of the borough Council are Monica Walsh (Council President), Peggy Birdsall Cadigan, Daniel DiCorcia, Michael Corbally, Michael DiCicco and James Liotta.

Federal, state and county representation

Point Pleasant Beach is in the Fourth Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 10th Legislative District.

For the 119th United States Congress, New Jersey's 4th congressional district is represented by Chris Smith (R, Manchester Township).[1][2] New Jersey is represented in the United States Senate by Democrats Cory Booker (Newark, term ends 2027) and Andy Kim (Moorestown, term ends 2031).[3]

For the 2024-2025 session, the 10th legislative district of the New Jersey Legislature is represented in the State Senate by James W. Holzapfel (R, Toms River) and in the General Assembly by Paul Kanitra (R, Point Pleasant Beach) and Gregory P. McGuckin (R, Toms River).[4] Template:NJ Governor

Musicians Robert and Dean DeLeo, bass guitarist and guitarist respectively, from the musical rock group Stone Temple Pilots, grew up in Point Pleasant Beach.

The Armenian composer Edward Manukyan, who lived in Point Pleasant Beach briefly in 2002, wrote a song about the city. The lyrics include:
