Rajagopala Kulasekhara Mudaliyar was a Tamil Indian music composer, who worked for Malayalam cinema. He composed music for 22 films, and was the music conductor for more than 100 films.

His debut song was Chotta muthal chudala vare ("from birth to grave") which was a big hit in Kerala. This was composed for the film Pazhassi Raja (1964).

R. K. Shekhar was married to Kasthuri. They had three children, among them legendary composer A. R. Rahman. He died sadly at the age of 31. He was a really popular music director and also a really loving father. Even though died at an early age he is still a legend in the Tamil Music Industry.
