Hey there. No, you did not always have to have an account to create articles. This was changed in 2005 as a result of the Wikipedia biography controversy, in an effort to improve the Reliability of Wikipedia. There are some old Signpost articles on the subjst: Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2005-12-05/Page creation restrictions, Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2006-12-04/Seigenthaler revisited. Hi there. Thanks for going around vacuuming red links. However, it would be nice if you waited a few minutes, so article creators have time to actually create all the red categories, such as Category:People from Ringerike that I created one minute after creating Bjørn Kjos.
