In the pilot, Steve is upset about his lack of popularity. He notices that girls seem attracted to guys with dogs, so he asks his parents for one. Stan gets him one. Roger does Hayley's homework, but when he flakes the dog is used as an excuse for late homework.

Stan accidentally brings home a liquid contaminated with a deadly virus. The CIA puts the entire family on quarantine. The virus scare causes many neighbors of the Smiths to put their houses for sale, and so Francine meets a real estate agent and wishes she too could go into the business. Hayley uses one of the houses in her mother's portfolio to set up a shelter for the homeless.

Hayley dyes her hair green at a Green Party rally, so Stan shaves her head while she is asleep. Out to celebrate a colleague's first assassination, Stan and his friends go to Hayley's club, where he is appalled to see her dancing topless on stage. Meanwhile, Steve and his friends ponder about what they'll do in the upcoming school dance.

While midnight fishing with his friends, Stan eventually mentions that he's glad not to be at home on that day, since it is the anniversary of a "huge fight" he and Francine had the previous year forgetting their wedding—whoops! The ensuing fight leads to Francine's memory being erased.

Roger later wakes up, in a landfill, and it is revealed that he had gone through a stress-induced hibernation. Desperate, Roger finally figures that he can go back home disguised as an old lady. While on his way, however, he gets confused with one of the senior citizens who are on their way for a tour in Washington D.C.

Francine decides to throw a block party to get in touch with the neighborhood. Stan learns his new neighbors are Iranian and immediately suspects that they are terrorists. He turns his house into a detention camp and keeps them inside.

In this episode, we are introduced to the White family. Stan hates the father, Chuck, who always beats the Smiths to church. At church, the deacon chokes to death on a communion water and Chuck volunteers to be deacon. Stan, wanting to beat him, also volunteers. Meanwhile, Roger is going through his reproductive cycle.

When a colleague leaves for health reasons, Stan assumes he’ll be promoted to the job. At home, Stan prepares for the CIA family carnival, figuring it’s his chance to impress Director Bullock and secure his promotion. At the carnival, Steve finds Dick Cheney’s Blackberry. The next day, Stan visits Bullock at home, unexpectedly find Hayley there.

Stan teaches a “cleaned up” sex education class for Steve’s benefit and shows a film demonstrating the evils of masturbation. When Steve channels his pent up sexual aggression into wood burning, Stan suffers an embarassing accident. His ointment use turns into an addiction to masturbation.

The CIA is trying to decipher a "strange alphabet" ("Elvish") being used by a terrorist to hack into computers controlling a dam, but they can’t figure out the strange letters. So instead, they decide to go practice for the father/son softball game. Stan is ashamed of Steve's geekiness and tries to cure him.

Things are a bit mundane for Stan at the CIA, evident by he and his colleague passing the time with paper football while waiting for an assignment from Bullock. But as the mission is deemed too dangerous for a family man, Stan is passed up. Francine tries to convince Stan that he should be happy having a great family, when Hayley comes in to announce that Grandpa Smith has died...or did he?

After doing a terrible job standing in for Jay Leno at Bullock's anniversary roast, Stan is banished to Saudi Arabia. Francine and Hayley find their feminist fantasies dashed, while Steve and Stan find all their dreams come true.

Driving around the desert, Steve gets a vision from God in the form of Angelina Jolie. When he goes back to the town and tells the public about his vision, they decided to stone him. Francine does a musical number casting off her clothes and is also sentenced to stoning.

Francine forces Stan to rekindle the bonds he had with Hayley when she was a child, but Stan's attempts lead to Hayley accidentally shooting and paralyzing Stan. Meanwhile, Roger takes revenge on Steve for eating his cookie by making Steve believe he was adopted into the Smith family.
