World Painted Blood is Slayer's tenth studio album due to be released by American Recordings/Sony BMG in 2009.[3] The album is being produced by Greg Fidelman and executive produced by Rick Rubin.[4] In May 2009, Kerry King said of the album: "I think this one has a little bit of everything — more so than anything we've done since Seasons. So I would imagine people are gonna compare it to that one."[2] The band have recorded thirteen songs for the album, seven written by Jeff Hanneman and six by King, although not all of these are expected to be included.[2] It was recently confirmed by Kerry King that the album's release date was pushed back to late summer 2009.[5] Despite several sources reporting that the title of Slayer's 10th album was World Painted Blood, Dave Lombardo said in a June 2009 interview that the new album has no title yet.[6] What is different about this album, from the others is that, this will be the first time Slayer records an album in the studio, as opposed to coming in with the material pre-recorded.[1]
Singles
The first new track from the album - "Psychopathy Red" - was made available as a 7-inch vinyl disc on April 18, as part of the third annual Record Store Day.[7][8] The track is about Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo.

Columbia Records has confirmed a July 7th release date for the new album from Slayer. A pair of candles burn nearby, and a large chart lists the songs in progress, most with descriptive working titles, including "7 String," "Drop B" and "Industrial," along with "Psychopathy Red," recorded last October and already leaked online. Slayer are still in the early stages of recording, just five weeks in, working out ideas for what will be an 11-song album, released in July, in time for the summer's second Mayhem Festival tour with Marilyn Manson.
