Kilnaleck is a small village in County Cavan, Ireland. Kilnaleck's most notable claim is dubious; that it has the most pubs per head of population in the British Isles. Seeing as this is one of the most common boasts of small towners across Ireland and Britain, it is highly unlikely to be true and almost impossible to prove considering the generally blurred lines of pubbery and peasantry, and the numbers thereof.

Nonetheless, Kilnaleck's pub count does indicate a rather serious predilection for alcoholic nectar and beverages amongst its townfolk and hinterland dwellers. In a village, essentially consisting of just one main street and two afterthought avenues, it is remarkable that the number of pubs are in the double figures, with an exact tally difficult considering the unusual case of Jim Lynch's. The pubbery of the village is usually heaving, with a wide variety of characters, some charming, most wicked. T

The pubs are as follows: "The Pub" (Not a joke) "Pius's", "The Millers", "Peter Bradys", "Mary Boylans", "The Copper Kettle", "Brooks", "Jim Lynchs" (now closed, alas), "Smyths", "Fiona's Bar".

In times of yore, there were 14 pubs in Kilnaleck. Now, the rural folk of the town and hinterland have to make do with nine fully functioning imbiberies.

Your average weekend night in Kilnaleck will consist of degradation, public humiliation, rioting, assault, misery, shame, sexual excess, intoxications of every kind as well as no shortage of crack agus cole (Cole being a local nickname for smack).

But essentially, it's a decent spot with no end of fine young ones.

Other activities of note in the village include chatting and loitering.

The local football team is Crosserlough GFC. Their members generally provide the pubs with both their best customers and worst offending aggravaters.
