Tata 1-Lakh car is the proposed car model planned by Tata motors, India. This model is currently named after the proposed price of Rs 1 Lakh of Indian rupees (Approx. USD 2500). This model will be unveiled at the 9th New Delhi Auto Expo on January 10, 2008.[1]. Commercial launch of this car is scheduled during the second half of 2008. This is a dream project of Tata chairman Ratan Tata. He has expressed his willingness to retire after the successful launch of this car model.[2].

Environmentalists and rival competitors of Tata motors have raised apprehensions about the safety and environmental impact of the proposed car. However Tata chairman allayed fears and told the British newspaper that ""we are producing a car that will be no more polluting than a motorcycle." This car is expected to give mileage of 25 Kilometers per liter of petrol.[3]
