A voice of reason. Yay. I'm not going to respond today as I've spent too much time trying to avoid becoming an entry on List of people who have self-combusted, and I'm getting a little irrational, but you make some good points. Thanks for entering the discussion. I will think about your ideas. --[[User:Mothperson|Mothperson]] 17:36, 6 May 2005 (UTC) |

No problem! Beauty of the system, eh? I always find it interesting to see how much there is to fix after I add something, lots of sharp eyes out there. Stan 19:26, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
== Hi! I'm sure you know that there is a deletion process. If you want to keep an article, feel free to vote for it, but don't removed it, that is abuse of process. Thanks, Trollminator 22:22, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)
"Deep Web" research
"I've run queries past the Dictionary of National Bibliography via ATHENS before, for example, part of the hidden "deep web", and seen people cite Lexis searches or Dialog."
Can you enlighten me on this? Ihavenolife 05:42, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)
VfD 'this land lyrics'
Are you going to change your vote on Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/This_land_lyrics due to your comment? As of right now you've voted keep twice on something it looks like you don't support keeping. Thanks! hfool/Wazzup? 02:45, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Looks like there was a vandal on the page, see User_talk:Humblefool#This_Land_VfD. Sorry to bother you. hfool/Wazzup? 17:29, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Your version of the "controversy" section is fine with me. I was just making some small changes in the wording of what was there before, but I think that your rewrite is an improvement. The point that he never left Istanbul is not very significant, because I think that his report was known to be an amalgamation of reports from many people who worked under him. Dear, Shimgray, in the future if you see an entry in the timeline of inventions with whose date you disagree, please fix it rather than deleting the entry.

The Poseidon Adventure
Shimgray, thanks for your response given on the Reference desk. I've copied over the responses to Talk:The Poseidon Adventure. If you are able to find the notes you made, can you please update the page with that. Jay 09:40, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Argh
Sorry to bother you at home, as it were, but while I was asking another how-to-merge question at the help desk, someone posted and made the page too big, so I was told I'd have to merge my post with something else. Ha. Ha. I don't know how to merge! That was my question! I managed to get "Heath toffee" redirected and renamed "Heath bar", but "Heath (candy bar)" refuses to join "Heath bar" by moving, so obviously I've missed a crucial part of the move/merge operation. And then... Help! Before I do anything stupid. --Mothperson 22:42, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
You did it! You did it! You did it!
I was considering how much easier it would be if I just cut and pasted, but I was nervous newbie, and thought if I were caught I'd have to go to Wikijail, which I know they have somewhere around here. Thank you very very much. And thank you, too, for any and all link clean-up at LOFNAP. -- Mothperson 23:39, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Grand Reopening
I am completely cross-eyed from googling, but the new Heath bar page is up, and since you made it possible (no good deed goes unpunished!), I am wondering if you'd take a look at it, and spot any egregious errors. I don't understand why my Ben & Jerry's is red, because the exact same thing is blue on LOFNAP. I think perhaps I need to read up more on linking. Thanks. --Mothperson 20:39, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thank you again, I really couldn't see that stuff. But I'm still wondering why my Ben & Jerry's isn't blue. But great - it's blue here! That's a big help. Not. The mysteries of Wiki. Also, when I deleted the note about the article being a stub, it disappeared from the list of stubs, but it hasn't reappeared anywhere else as far as I can tell. Have I consigned it to limbo, where only people who know it exists can access it? --Mothperson 00:20, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
That is interesting. I wrote the article on a word processing program (because I'm always losing stuff when I write here) and copied and pasted it. So the apostrophe probably did mess it up. So much to learn. I'm glad you're around to pester. Thank you, yet again, for revealing more of the Wiki Mysteries. --Mothperson 17:41, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hermes
I agree the picture looks dubiously recent for a 1920 aircraft carrier. At least the "sinking Hermes" will be authentic! Regards. PHG 23:18, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
James Oberg
Aloha. I noticed that you recently moved James Oberg to Jim Oberg. While I'm sure you meant well, I don't believe this move is correct. According to the relevant Wikipedia:Naming conventions, we should use the most common name of a person or thing that does not conflict with the names of other people or things. According to a Google test, the most common name is "James Oberg" (31,800 hits), while "Jim Oberg" only gets 580 hits. See also: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). I will attempt to move the page back. --Viriditas | Talk 23:49, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Not a problem. My take on it, is if there are two Jim Oberg's, we could disambiguate in a number of ways, such as using middle initials, or using parenthesis describing their profession in neutral terms. The only time I've ever run into a problem is on the Emperor Norton article. You might want to check out that talk page for some interesting issues related to naming conventions. --Viriditas | Talk 00:03, 1 May 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, yeah, I figured it out and deleted my question. :) RickK 08:20, May 5, 2005 (UTC)
You turned me into a candy bar
It's okay - it's been fixed. But I found my talk page listed under "U" in the candy bars! Still, if I'm going to be anything, a candy bar is far preferable to many other possibilities. Like serial murderer, or mold. Anyway, your help was more than worth my temporary transformation. --Mothperson 13:44, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
