"Indian Summer" is the 11th episode of the first season of the AMC period TV series Mad Men. Directed by Tim Hunter and written by Tom Palmer and series creator and showrunner Matthew Weiner, the episode focuses on Roger returning to Sterling-Cooper after his heart attack but suffering a second one, Peggy trying a weight loss machine and doing a presentation about it, Pete desperately trying and wanting to be a junior copywriter at the office and Betty having an encounter with a salesman. This episode aired for the first time in the United States on October 3, 2007.

In the wake of his heart attack, Roger returns back to Sterling-Cooper, trying to continue on business with Lucky Strike. During a meeting with Harry, Sal, Freddy, Paul, Ken, Pete, Bert, Lee Garner Sr and Don, Roger suffers another heart attack whilst smoking a cigarette and is wheeled away on a stretcher to the hospital again, his wife Mona follows him as the rest of the Sterling-Cooper workers including Joan shockingly look on.

Peggy tries on a weight loss machine named the Relax-a-Cizor, however immediately gives up after putting it on. The next day, she informs Don that the machine does not have weight loss, Don responds by telling her to put that as a sentence. Later, Peggy has a date, however after the man insults her city of origin, Peggy tells him that people there are better behaved. The next day, she gives a presentation about the weight loss machine and is a success however the executives say that they are confused on what it actually does.

Betty gets a visit from an air conditioning salesman who looks at her house and asks if he could provide any air conditioning, Betty however refuses and kicks him out of the house, she later tells Don the story, making him angry at her. The next day, Betty has a hallucination werein she has sex with the salesman.

Adam, now realising that Don/Dick will never accept him back into his life, sends a box of memories to Don's office before he hangs himself to death. At Sterling-Cooper, Don gets promoted by Bert and gives Peggy a raise and a day off. Pete wanting to be a junior copywriter, walks into Don's office as he's busy with Bert, the box sent by Adam is sent to the office and Pete picks it up and quickly takes it back home as Don returns to the office.
