Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tamayori-hime (mother of Jimmu), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Kiki and Sumiyoshi Shrine. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I can find no source saying he is bisexual, therefore, I have reverted the categories you just added.

Where did you read/see that he is bisexual. Le Marteau (talk) 00:26, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I read it from a 2014 interview, that I turned out to have misunderstood. He actually said he wanted to be bisexual and had sex with men in the past MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 01:16, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

From what I've gathered, he went around to various gay bars with a film crew and found one guy he masturbated in a bathroom. That is not "men". Le Marteau (talk) 02:24, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I say this only because it is important that we be careful about discussing living people. Misstatements about them, particularly about sensitive issues such as sexuality, must be either removed or corrected anywhere it appears on the encyclopedia, even on talk pages. Peace out. Chinese Cult category

Please make sure the article supports adding this category. At least 2 articles are about South Korean cults with no mention of China.Slywriter (talk) 19:07, 25 January 2022 (UTC) @Slywriter: Will do. This is a formal list by the Chinese government so there will be proper citations for this, at least on the Chinese Wikipedia articles from I categorized the groups from (with the exceptions of Heterodox teachings (Chinese law) and Murder of Wu Shuoyan which are not groups themselves but strongly linked to it) MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 19:10, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The two articles I reverted make no mention of any members or activities in China, so unless sections are added about their activities in China and are sourced to WP:SECONDARY reliable sources, it is unlikely the Chinese government list justifies the category. Also, remember Chinese Wikipedia and English Wikipedia are different projects with different guidelines. Slywriter (talk) 19:16, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft status for multiple articles

@MaitreyaVaruna:

I noticed that you re-moved various articles back to the mainspace, after I'd moved them to draftspace just a few days ago. I also notice that, while you appear to be editing these pages, you haven't yet corrected the biggest issues with them -- chunks of text still in Japanese, badly machine-translated text that isn't grammatical, lack of sourcing, various things listed as "references" when they appear to be more "annotations".

Considering the substantial issues with these pages, I recommend that they be moved back to draftspace until the text can be rendered in grammatical and meaningful English, and appropriate sources can be added (even if that's a matter of translating the bibliographic info for Japanese sources and translating the relevant source text sections).

Also pinging @Liz: since she appears to be much more knowledgeable about drafts and moves than I am.

The articles in question:

It looks like you've made the most progress with the Makimuku ruins page. However, this still has numerous issues.

  • "Makimukyamata" is not a Japanese term. The text links through to ja:Makimukyamata River, but the Japanese Wikipedia does not have any article by that title, nor by any homophonic title in Japanese script.
  • There are still strange machine-translation artifacts littered through the page. Examples include:

The name of the Archaeological site comes from the village of Makimuku in the former Isogi-gun, and the village name "Makimuku" was taken from the "Makimuku Tamaki Palace" of Suinin and the "Makimuku Hijiro Palace" of Emperor Keikō's "Tamaki Palace" and Emperor Hishiro Palace of Keikō,

The above is the entirety of the first paragraph in the #Location and site outline section.

Note that excavation, who was in charge of the Ishino Hironobu, assigned the calendar years 180 to 210 for "Garment 1".

This is the last sentence of the third paragraph in that same #Location and site outline section. Note that the links go through to the Japanese Wikipedia: one to the non-existent article at ja:excavation, and two to irrelevant articles at ja:180 and ja:210, which discuss the numbers themselves.

The three tumuli are surrounded by the Garoshi Katsuyama tumulus (top), the Yatsuka tumulus (bottom left) and the Ishizuka tumulus (bottom right), and the Garoshi Elementary School is located between them.

This is a caption for one of the pictures. The problem here is that the tumuli are not surrounded by anything in the picture, and instead they surround the elementary school.
  • Sourcing is inadequate.
  • Strange formatting that renders the meaning unclear.

On the map of the site, the area of the site is centered on JR Makimuki Station and stretches about 2km from east to west and about 1.5km from north to south, forming an oval shape with an area of 3km2 (3 million m2).

Emphasis mine. Clearer phrasing might be "three square kilometers", for instance.
  • Chunks of text still in Japanese.
In addition to the References at the bottom, there's also the 「搬入土器の出身地割合」 table in the #Main excavated artifacts section.

MaitreyaVaruna, I look forward to your thoughts. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 01:48, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Eirikr: Thank you for this input. I feel with it I managed to make substantial improvements on these articles, and their sourcing. The Exception being History of Shinto because it is quite long and has a complex set of references MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 06:55, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MaitreyaVaruna: Thanks for the reply. That makes sense, and I am reassured that someone is actively working on these. I hope the above provides useful feedback on further improvements. Kind regards, ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 23:00, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Coming late to this productive discussion. I am usually moving inadequately sourced or incomplete articles to Draft space than rather than improving content. I am not a content creator but it's nice to see MaitreyaVaruna work on improving articles. All I can really add is that editors often move pages into Draft space when there is a possibility that they could be tagged for speedy deletion. New page patrollers are very efficient in evaluating new pages and tagging for deletion those that meet speedy deletion criteria. Although pages in Draft space can still be tagged for speedy deletion (most often advertising or promotional content), it's considered a "safe space" for articles to be improved upon so that is often the reason why articles that could be deleted are moved to this name space. It's rarely a comment on the substance or subject (or its notability) of an article but after an evaluation of the present condition of the page. Liz Read! Talk! 22:05, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You should have seen on the page before you created it that the article had been deleted before multiple times. It is now protected from being recreated. Liz Read! Talk! 20:18, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Sect Shinto requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 23:26, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@IAmChaos: I have no clue what happened but that redirect was supposed to go to where it is now. MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 23:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yup! As soon as I tagged it I got a watchlist email that you were changing the page, and I've now removed the tag. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 23:31, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Religious organizations disestablished in 1999 indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! Hello

Thank you for having proposed an improvement for the name of my category.--Geysirhead (talk) 07:46, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Geysirhead: do you know what's going on with the move of Category:Rule by a subset of population because it doesn't seem to have happened yet. There's a bot that will move them to Category:Merocracy right? MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 05:16, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The manga fandom is a good place to move your article to

Your article Mikos in anime and manga is now up for deletion. Dream Focus 21:15, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Dream Focus: thank you. I added it here https://manga.fandom.com/wiki/Mikos_in_anime_and_manga is that wiki essentially a wiki made by Wikipedians to preserve anime and manga Wikipedia pages that would otherwise be deleted? It feels more academic than the typical wikia wiki MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 22:57, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well hard to know what to put on the main page. Other wikias have just one thing they are dedicated to, so you can just link to characters, episodes, issues, etc. There were a lot of manga and anime articles being delete almost daily back in 2010 when I started exporting them to there. Yamai national theory moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Yamai national theory, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
