Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Edits to Wikipedia, such as your edit to the page Bishnucharan Biswas, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless used with permission. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

Hello Diannaa the source link you have given in your edit summary, I am seeing for the very first time. And I have just checked it itself isn't original.https://www.allresearchjournal.com/archives/2017/vol3issue6/PartD/3-6-76-983.pdf is almost exactly copy from https://www.jstor.org/stable/3516809 p-17 . My source is also Bhattacharya, Subhas. “The Indigo Revolt of Bengal.” Social Scientist, vol. 5, no. 12, 1977, pp. 13–23. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/stable/3516809. Accessed 21 Aug. 2021. and I have cited the item in reference list. Chanchaldm (talk) 20:37, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hello. Changing a ping template does not work (pinging Diannaa). By the way, you seen my reply below? — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 20:45, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
Help me! I have been accused of copying from a source which I am seeing for the first time. And it itself isn't original.
Please help me with... I am seeing https://www.allresearchjournal.com/archives/2017/vol3issue6/PartD/3-6-76-983.pdf for the first time in edit summary of my contribution being deleted. And I have just checked , the source itself isn't original. It has almost exactly being copied from - Bhattacharya, Subhas. “The Indigo Revolt of Bengal.” Social Scientist, vol. 5, no. 12, 1977, pp. 13–23. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/stable/3516809. Accessed 21 Aug. 2021. P-17 My source is also - Bhattacharya, Subhas. The Indigo Revolt of Bengal, Social Scientist, 5.. I have made little alteration and give reference too. I don't think it has any copyright. Chanchaldm (talk) 20:15, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hello. Please take a look at the Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources page, and remember that all literary works are protected by copyright by default. Thank you. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 20:21, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know that. Can I take permission and then copy with some alteration? Or taking text from other sources with some alteration not allowed altogether? Chanchaldm (talk) 20:54, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- What exactly do you mean by "taking permission"? As described here, you would need a very specific license grant from the copyright holder to copy text onto Wikipedia. Regarding alterations, please see the Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing page. Thank you. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 21:02, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- With very few exceptions, you always have to write everything in you own words. Please read WP:COPYVIO. Girth Summit (blether) 21:13, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

- LauritzT, no indeed, for your interlocutor. Apologies for indenty confusion. Girth Summit (blether) 21:18, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Ok sir. I have got it. It forbids Wikipedia contributors from copying an excessive amount of material directly from other sources. As Diannaa mentioned in edit summary -https://www.allresearchjournal.com/archives/2017/vol3issue6/PartD/3-6-76-983.pdf which itself is exact copy of https://www.jstor.org/stable/3516809 , P-17. My source is also https://www.jstor.org/stable/3516809 . But I haven't seen https://www.allresearchjournal.com/archives/2017/vol3issue6/PartD/3-6-76-983.pdf at all before. So I was very confused. Thank you for your help. I'm little confused thinking that Diannaa's mentioned source is also copyright violation. Isn't it? Chanchaldm (talk) 21:17, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
[The] mentioned source is also copyright violation
: Not necessarily, if the authors of the mentioned source had permission from the copyright holders, which is presumably the case, since it appears that it was submitted to the authors of the website by the author of the article (who would be the copyright holder by default).Thank you for your help
: You're very welcome, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia :) — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 21:24, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
As a new editor I don't have that much knowledge. Thank you for explaining me all these things. I will remember to write only in my own words and and also put quote around I take extensively from other source. Thank you again. Chanchaldm (talk) 05:01, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Link rot
Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Baishya Saha. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Worldbruce (talk) 21:49, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Worldbruce, I tried but couldn't find a live link to repair it. And the article mainly using Bengali sources in English wikipedia. Please fix it. I will also try. Thank you. Chanchaldm (talk) 22:11, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- It is okay to leave it for someone more experienced to fix, if you can't repair it. A live link is useful, but is not required. The source is a book, so people can verify its content by buying it or borrowing it from a library. Offline sources are fine. --Worldbruce (talk) 23:43, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know that. Actually I was talking about fixing citations in non-english language there. There are at least three citations in Bengali language. Is it okay? Chanchaldm (talk) 01:23, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
Bishnucharan Biswas moved to draftspace
We need more than one source to verify this subject.

Sir/Madam, I'm Dr.Pinsky. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Tilli, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Dr.Pinsky (talk) 20:38, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
Provided Chanchaldm (talk) 17:16, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Tilli. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You made an original research in these edits. The source [1] clearly mentions them to be OBC not general. This one mentions 'Teli' and yet again talks about OBC reservations. Correct it as per source kindly. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:48, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to Australo-Melanesian does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. In the case of your edit at Australo-Melanesian this is especially important, since I don't know why you removed the link if you don't explain it. Rsk6400 (talk) 13:52, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your detailed explanation. I removed the wikilink as there's no wikipedia article on that topic. I did this some other pages too. Also, If there's an article, but no wikilink given , I add the wikilink there. I forgot to give edit summary here. Sorry for that.Chanchaldm (talk) 14:19, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- I see you found a very good solution. Thank you and happy editing. --Rsk6400 (talk) 07:16, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
