Template:WP Film Sidebar WikiProject Films is a WikiProject dedicated to building a comprehensive and detailed guide to films on Wikipedia.

Goals

• To standardize the film articles in Wikipedia.
• To improve Wikipedia coverage of films by adding, expanding and improving film articles
• To serve as a central point of discussion for issues related to Wikipedia film articles

Scope

This WikiProject aims to define a standard of consistency for articles about films and film characters (it also includes categories and templates about films). It also aims to encourage and provide the structure for enhancing the writing of high qualilty articles on all manner of different films. This project does not include articles about actors, directors, and filmmakers (those are in the scope of WikiProject Biography and some possible future projects).

The December 2006 issue of the Films WikiProject newsletter has been published. You may read the newsletter, change the format in which future issues will be delivered to you, or unsubscribe from this notification by following the link. Thank you.

• If you find, create, or contribute to a film article, please paste {{Film}} on the top of its discussion page and add the article to the appropriate lists within List of films. In addition, some tags that can be pasted on the discussion page in order to request the addition of missing material are {{Film needs synopsis}}, {{Needs film infobox}}, and {{Filmimage}}.
• If you find a stub article that has not yet been marked as a stub, add {{film-stub}} to the bottom of the article, or browse Category:Film stubs for sub-cats such as {{comedy-film-stub}}, {{action-film-stub}}, and other sub-stubs by subject or country. The article will then automatically be included in the film stubs category, where you can find plenty of stub articles to expand if you are itching to do something.

• Edit any film article: Check out the style guide or just dive right in
• Contribute to the discussion on the talk page
• Add the {{Film}} tag to the talk page of any article that does not have it.
• Categorise the articles at Category:Uncategorised films.
• Add an infobox to every film article that needs one.

If you find an article without an image, please find an appropriate image for the film in question, license it appropriately, include a fair use rationale if applicable, and add it to the article. However, if you do not have access to an appropriate image, please add the {{Filmimage}} tag to the discussion page and list it at Requested pictures.

Please respond to a request for a film articles or create an article from the List of notable films, as part of the Missing encyclopedic articles WikiProject.

We are rating articles for quality using the Film articles by quality scale (based on this) and for importance using the Release Version Criteria scale. Once articles are rated for either they will show up on Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Film articles by quality. Please see here for instructions on rating film articles, and then go here to assess the unassessed.

This is to announce that a major compilation of lists of missing films by year and country is underway in Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article. It is meant for maintenance work, to provide a basis from which to expand film on wikipedia and presentable as the "adoption center" for users in general. If any of the films of this list are deemed as "needed articles", they can be copied to such a list or branded with the appropriate template. One way or the other, this will become a very useful tool in the film project.
