Si Ri Panya International School is a private, fully licensed international school in Koh Phangan, Thailand. Founded in 2012, it became the first international school on the island to be fully accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education in 2019. The school follows the National Curriculum for England for primary education and offers Cambridge International Education, including IGCSEs. It has implemented various sustainability initiatives, receiving the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award and launching Koh Phangan’s first Precious Plastic recycling project.

History

Si Ri Panya International School was founded in 2012[1] to provide an internationally accredited education for both local and expatriate families on Koh Phangan. Initially operating as a small community school, it expanded over the years to accommodate a growing international student body.

Under the leadership of Nicola Bunchuay[2], the school expanded its curriculum and gained recognition as Koh Phangan’s first fully accredited international school in 2019, officially recognised by the Thai Ministry of Education. This milestone was reported by The Thaiger and other educational news sources.[3][4]

Academics and Curriculum

Si Ri Panya International School offers a 21st-century curriculum that integrates inquiry-based learning, technology, and interdisciplinary projects.[5] The school is divided into two sections: Primary and Secondary, following the National Curriculum for England.

The secondary programme prepares students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations, covering core subjects such as English language, Mathematics, and Science, along with optional subjects including Drama, Humanities, and Design and Technology.[6]

In 2024, the school launched Koh Phangan’s first Precious Plastic collection and recycling facility. The school's recycling facility is part of the global Precious Plastic network.[14]
