Priya Prakash Varrier (born 28 October 1999) is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Malayalam and Telugu films and also worked in few Tamil, Kannada and Hindi Films.[1] Her wink in the film Oru Adaar Love (2019) went viral, making her the most searched-for personality through Google in India in 2018.[2][3][4][5]

Early life and education

Priya was born on 28 October 1999[6][7] to Prakash Varrier, a Central Excise Department employee, and Preetha, a homemaker at Punkunnam, Thrissur, in Kerala.[6]

She did her schooling at Sandeepani Vidya Nikethan, Thrissur.[8][9] In 2018, she enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce course at Vimala College, Thrissur.[8]

Career

Her first appearance in cinema came with Oru Adaar Love, a romantic drama set in a school, she played the role of Priya alongside several newcomers.[10] The song from the film "Maanikya Malaraya Poovi" was released on YouTube and included Priya winking. Her wink was said to have gone viral and became an overnight sensation.[11]

In 2019, she sang a song "Nee Mazhavillu Polen", with Naresh Iyer for the film Finals.[12] She was cast in the Hindi film Sridevi Bungalow alongside Arbaaz Khan, which was languishing in post-production as of January 2020, due to criticism and lawsuits filed by late actress Sridevi's family. The film has not been released as of 2024.[13] Her first Kannada film Vishnupriya is yet to be released.

She made her Telugu debut in Check (2021) in which she played a honey trapper opposite Nithin and Rakul Preet Singh.[14]
