The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is an Android-powered foldable smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Google as part of the Google Pixel product line. It serves as the successor to the first-generation Pixel Fold. It was officially announced on August 13, 2024, at the annual Made by Google event, and was released in the United States on September 4, 2024.
History
In October 2023, 9to5Google reported that a second Android-powered foldable smartphone was in development at Google, codenamed "Comet". This came after the release of the first-generation Pixel Fold the previous year.[2]
After previewing the phone in July 2024,[3] Google officially announced the phone on August 13, alongside the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel Watch 3, at the annual Made by Google event.[4] The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be released on September 4.[5]
Specifications
Design
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, compared to the previous generation Pixel Fold, boasts a taller and slimmer design. It sports a 6.3-inch cover display and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner display.[6]
The external screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2424 pixels at 422 ppi. The display reaches a peak brightness of up to 1800 nits in HDR and up to 2700 nits peak brightness. Both displays support HDR and both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is 5.1 mm (0.20 in) thick when unfolded and 10.5 mm (0.41 in) when folded.[6]
There are two available colors: Porcelain (an ecru or off-white) and Obsidian (a dark charcoal gray).

Hardware
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is powered by G4 Tensor chip, coupled with 16GB RAM and two options of 256GB or 512GB storage. It also has an upgraded camera system with a 48-megapixel wide camera, 10.5-megapixel ultrawide lens, and 10.8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom and up to 20x Super Res Zoom.[6]
It features a 4650mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. It also supports Qi-certified wireless charging.[6]
