General elections are scheduled to be held in the Bahamas by 2026 to elect all 38 members of the House of Assembly.
Background
In the 2021 election, the Progressive Liberal Party of then opposition leader Philip Davis won a landslide victory against the incumbent Free National Movement led by then Prime Minister Hubert Minnis, securing 32 seats and 52.59% of the popular vote.
Electoral system
Members of the House of Assembly are elected from single-member constituencies using first-past-the-post voting.[1] The majority party then selects the Prime Minister, who is appointed by the Governor-General.[2]
