Merdeka Center Sdn. Bhd. or Merdeka Center for Opinion Research (Malay pronunciation: [mer.day.cuh]; is a Malaysian based market research and public opinion firm that is headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor with offices located in Sabah, Terengganu, and Bangi. The company was founded in 1999 by Ibrahim Suffian and Hazman Hamid but was formally established in 2003 as a private company called Merdeka Strategic Development Centre Sdn Bhd.[1] It is also a registered supplier with the Malaysian Government (Ministry of Finance).
Methodology
Merdeka Center specialises in market research and opinion polling through physical and online methods. The company's methodology involves obtaining responses from conducting surveys in person particularly via in-depth interviews or through online where weighting these responses are in line with demographic information. The surveys are designed to maximize the advantages provided by computerized random selection of telephone numbers, no clustering, randomized selection of respondents (subsequent to designated matching e.g, voters), pre-tested survey instrument designed by a panel of experts, rigorous procedure of call backs and appointments, personal briefing and supervision as well as detailed weighting procedure to ensure fully representative final sample.[2]
Polling accuracy
During the 2013 Malaysian general election, Malaysia’s most heated polls in recent times, Merdeka Center was just off by 0.1 per cent in predicting the popular vote, and that they had correctly forecast the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) opposition pact’s victory in 89 seats.[3]

In the latest 2022 Malaysian general election, Merdeka Center's polls were the most accurate in predicting the amount of seats won by the Pakatan Harapan coalition, compared to rivalling firms such as EMIR Research, Ilham Center, and Invoke with the poll only mispredicting by one seat.
