Luciano Rodríguez Rosales (born 16 July 2003) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Bahia and the Uruguay national team.[2]

Club career

Rodríguez is a youth academy graduate of Progreso. He made his professional debut for the club on 17 January 2021 in a goalless draw against Montevideo City Torque.[3]

On 27 December 2022, Liverpool Montevideo announced the signing of Rodríguez.[4]

On 26 July 2024, Rodríguez joined Brazilian club Bahia on a five-year contract, making him the most expensive signing in club's history.[5]

International career

Rodríguez has represenred Uruguay at various youth levels.[6] In January 2023, he was named in Uruguay's squad for the 2023 South American U-20 Championship.[7] He was then a part of the Uruguayan side that won the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, having scored the winning goal in the final match against Italy.[8][9]

In June 2023, Rodríguez received his first call-up to the senior team for friendlies against Nicaragua and Cuba.[10] In January 2024, he was named in Uruguay's squad for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.[11] He made his debut for the Uruguay national team on 23 March 2024 in a 1–1 draw against Basque Country.[12]

Personal life

Luciano's twin brother Emiliano Rodríguez is also a professional footballer.[13]
