Description
English: Shankend Viaduct Viewed from the road by Shankend Farm, this impressive 15-arch viaduct was part of the Waverley Railway route between Edinburgh and Carlisle. The line was opened in 1862 and closed in 1969. Major repairs to waterproof the deck and refurbish the arches was completed in May 2007 by BRB (Residuary) Limited. About 80% of the bridge is within NT5205 with the remaining 20% in NT5206.
