The signal at top left is a repeater signal. It shows the state of the signal which is out of sight around the curved platform. In this case the signal is clear (green, as can be seen reflected in the train windows) as the repeater is diagonal. If the signal was at caution (yellow) or danger (red) the repeater would be horizontal.
