This graph image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “MeteorAccGraph.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
Summary
DescriptionMeteorAccGraph.jpg
English: This diagram shows the acceleration of an idealized (spherical) meteoroid when entering the Earth's atmosphere at different initial velocities. As the density of the atmosphere increases in accord with the barometric formula, the meteoroid experiences more and more Newton drag.
The initial velocities are 35, 25 and 15 km/s, where a higher peak corresponds to a higher initial velocity.
An acceleration of 1 km/s² is about 100 g.
The meteoroid considered here consists of iron. It has a volume of 1 cm³ and a mass of about 7.874 gramms.
