DescriptionHoly Cross Armenian Apostolic Church.jpg
English: The Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church — an Armenian church located at 580 West 187th Street between St. Nicholas and Audubon Avenues in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
It was the site on December 24, 1933 of the assassination by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation of Archbishop Leon Elisee Tourian, the head of the Armenian Church in the United States, which caused a schism.
The church, which was originally built for the Lutheran Church of Our Savour, had to be reconsecrated. Tourian was buried in a crypt in the building, which was renovated and refaced in 1952-53 to designs by Manoug Exerjian. The parish was founded in 1929.
