English: Beighton Junction (ie the 1891 junction where the MSLR "Derbyshire Lines", later GCML to London Marylebone left the MSLR Beighton Branch) heading south along the original MSLR Beighton Branch towards the 1849 Beighton Junction with the Midland Railway, 27 November 1977. Trains between Chesterfield and Sheffield were diverted because of engineering work. The track straight ahead from under the photographer was the "Up" (southbound) main line to Marylebone, by 1977 this was just a long single track to Arkwright Colliery. The former "Down" (northbound) main line was the second track from the right and used to run straight through the signal, which was erected after the through route closed in 1966.The rightmost track was originally part of the Holbrook Colliery branch.
