Draft:Luthen Rael
Luthen Rael is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in Star Wars: Andor (2021–present), Luthen is a major operative in the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. He is portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård.
Characterization
Luthen leads a double life, running an antique shop on the planet Coruscant to cover for his work as a spymaster.[1][2]
Tony Gilroy, the creator and showrunner of Andor, compared Luthen to "a chess player" in "a very tough spot."[3]
Reception
Skarsgård's performance recieved widespread praise from critics, and was ranked #85 in a list of "The 100 Greatest TV Performances of the 21st Century" by Variety.[4] He was also nominated for "Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Series, Drama" at the 3rd Astra TV Awards.
Some critics have called Luthen one of the best characters in Star Wars.[5]
