Deepavali is a 2008 Indian romantic drama film directed by Hari Babu and starring Venu Thottempudi, Megha Nair and Aarthi Agarwal.[2]
Plot
A village man, who does not celebrate Deepavali, falls in love with a woman while traveling to Delhi.[3]

Production
Cast and crew
The film began production in November 2007.[citation needed] Ernakulam-based model Megha Nair made her debut with this film.[4] The film was shot prior to Aarthi Agarwal's marriage although it released afterwards.[citation needed] Ogeti Ramana was supposed to be the music director before he was replaced with Vandemataram Srinivas.[4]
Filming
The film began shoot in Secunderabad.[citation needed] Most of the film was shot in a single schedule.[citation needed] Some of the songs were shot in foreign locations in Southeast Asia.[citation needed] The climax scene was shot for three days at an aluminum factory in Gachibowli in May 2008 with Master Vijay choreographing the stunts.[citation needed] As of 24 May 2008, the entire film was shot except for a song.[citation needed]

The music was composed by Vandemataram Srinivas.[5] The audio release function was held on 28 June 2008 with Tammareddy Bharadwaja releasing the audio CD.[4] Notably, none of the film's lead cast was present at the film's audio launch due to its delay.[4]

Release and reception
The film was planned to release in June 2008.[citation needed] Since Deepavali of 2008 fell on a Tuesday and films were usually released on Fridays, the film was not released on Deepavali.[3] The film was eventually released on 26 November alongside R. Narayana Murthy's Devarakonda Veerayya and Nagendra Babu's Ek Police.[1]
In a retrospective review, a writer from V6 Velugu praised the performance of the cast, the music, and the film's comedy and action.[6]
