IMHO I don't think Vioxx or Rezulin classify as medical disasters. This category can't turn into a weapon for the alternative medicine community. I thought this category would be for malaria or cholera outbreaks in Africa...though maybe there aren't articles for these. --CDN9919:21, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see the need for this category
I'm not sure how pages are being chosen for inclusions here. Presumably someone dying from any disease would view it as a medical disaster. Pandemics have their own category. I think that it is reasonable to have a category for things like Bhopal, but it seems like the industrial disasters and environmental disaster categories (which it is also a part of!) cover it nicely. I think that this category should be deleted and am interested to hear what others think InvictaHOG16:12, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that almost all the entries here don't belong. This title implies (at least to me) some human failing of the medical profession. Thalidomide would fit this but almost all others not. The Black death can't really be blamed on 14th century doctors' failure to come up with a treatment. I would suggest a new category for Thalidomide etc called Man-made medical disasters or similar and the deletion of this one.--JBellis22:27, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree also, the first line of the Bhopal article says it was an industrial disaster - which is precisely what it was. If that's a medical disaster then so was 9/11, every plane crash, every train crash, every motorway pile-up etc. where there is a large number of casualties.
