Zenshu (全修。) is an upcoming original Japanese anime television series animated by MAPPA. It is directed by Mitsue Yamazaki and written by Kimiko Ueno, with Sumie Noro serving as assistant director and Yukari Hashimoto composing the music. Original character designs are provided by Yoshiteru Tsujino, while Kayoko Ishikawa adapts the designs for animation.[1][2] It is set to premiere on TV Tokyo and other TX Network stations on January 5, 2025.[3] The opening theme song is "Zen" performed by Band-Maid, while the ending theme song is "Tada, Kimo no Mama de" performed by Sou.[4] Crunchyroll licensed the series.[5]
Premise
The series centers on Natsuko Hirose, a professional animator, who is known for her shut-in personality (represented by her long hair covering her face). Despite that, her first anime is an instant hit. She finally gets the chance to direct a new animated series, only to find herself struggling with the project (because it's a romantic comedy, her least favorite genre to work with) and eventually dies of exhaustion. She later wakes up in the world of A Tale of Perishing, her childhood anime series that led her to becoming an animator. Disillusioned with experiencing the sheer hopelessness of the anime's storyline in person, she later discovers that she has the power to re-animate scenes in order to alter the storyline to survive the cruelness of being in her childhood anime's world.
