Kiefer Oppose
- For those would-be oppose commenters, this argument has been made before and it's valid. Let the candidate convince Kiefer that wouldn't happen.--v/r - TP 13:06, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- If KW doesn't want to get criticized for his votes, he should stop being as harsh and disruptive as he can be. AutomaticStrikeout ? 15:18, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Ohh, I'm sure KW doesn't mind in the least. I'm just suggesting we save all ourselves the drama that would ensue from a legitimate !vote that has been argued numerous times before. I mean, honestly, the candidate is really the only one who can change this type of a vote, so why argue anyway?--v/r - TP 15:40, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm with AutomaticStrikeout on this one. I don't want any drama, but the whole reason a user is nominated for adminship is because they can be trusted not to obsess over silver backs and use it as power. However, people may have their opinions, and KW has seen good candidates turn vicious and I bet it id probably at least partially correct. Anyway, happy edits and good luck on this RfA, Kelapstick WT101 (Chat • Count) 17:01, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- As KW is topic-banned from discussion at RfA, and thus can not and will not answer to this, I suggest to all to refrain from further comments here. Kraxler (talk) 17:22, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

- Personally, I don't think this (paraphrasing, "he's a good editor so he shouldn't become an administrator") is a valid rationale at all and wouldn't mind if it were stricken. But rather than raise a ruckus by actually proposing that, I'll divert the conversation in this way: what is a "silver back"? Newyorkbrad (talk) 22:17, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- I thought you were in DC? It's pointy and meta, but it's still a valid point. I mean maybe he thinks you're really suited to wiki-administration? ;-) And you still owe me some content from 2009 Volokh era promises. Now why don't we have some of THOSE MOTHERS here. Way more fun, smart, interesting than the average Wiki-mandarin.TCO (talk) 22:32, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- TCO, please remind me of the content you are referring to next week (I'll be away for a couple of days for the holiday). Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 22:58, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- While I don't expect Kiefer to ever vote "Support since he is a poor editor and would do better mopping up." I accept that the Bureaucrats aren't brainless drones and can handle the awesome responsibility of weighing this vote, just as they do every other vote, so striking is unnecessary and will likely only cause more unnecessary drama. Maybe everyone should just let the vote stand on its own merits and let the Crats worry about it. Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 23:00, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Is every good editor automatically qualified to be an admin? Should every good editor become an admin? So far there don't seem to be any hugely compelling reasons to make him an admin, so it doesn't seem like too wild a question, although it IS worded in a shocking way.TeeTylerToe (talk) 11:03, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Does nobody else find issue with Kiefer's edit summary? GiantSnowman 11:07, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- No. I think we'd be wasting our own time by speculating on Kiefer's motives, especially since he cannot elaborate. I don't like seeking trouble because we have a grumpy fellow. Can we not just drop it?--v/r - TP 13:25, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- It wasn't even inappropriate, much less drastic. If KW believes it that's up to him and his edit summary is inoffensive. Leaky Caldron 17:35, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Regarding editing patterns
As mentioned in Warden's oppose, I just want to address my editing patterns for anyone else who may have concerns. I live in Canada and work in Mongolia. From 2010 until now (with the exception of January-August 2012) I have worked a rotation of eight weeks work, four weeks home (starting now it is changing to a six/three schedule). I do my editing during my time overseas, and while I am home I tend to not edit as much as I spend that time with my family (and catch up on episodes of Doctor Who in the evenings). I still check in occasionally and do minor vandalism reversions, but my edits are generally much lower during these periods. It is the equivalent of a weekend for me. March of this year was my time at home (hence a lower edit count that month). I am guessing in April I probably didn't find anything I was interested in working on. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:23, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- No need to justify yourself - we don't get paid for what we do. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:47, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- K, I don't know how you keep your sanity and your marriage intact with that schedule of yours. As for the latter, I guess the good sign is that your count goes down when you're home, haha. Please give my regards to the family--and let's meet up next year along the Mississippi, and go looking for Mastodons. Drmies (talk) 14:01, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Semi protected for two days
I've semi-protected this RFA due to a block evading IP. The history speaks for itself. If any admin thinks this is an error, they are welcome to simply revert without permission. Note that I have participated in this RfA but believe it fits under the exceptions laid out at WP:INVOLVED. Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 00:10, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- I see that Rschen7754 had beat me to the punch, but for a shorter period. Rschen7754 or anyone else should feel free to modify the term if they feel it best. Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 00:12, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
