Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Business

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Business. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Business|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Business. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

The article does not meet WP:GNG as the sources mainly focus on the subject interviews and statements, without providing significant coverage. Majority of cited sources focus on Viraj Bahl company growth (revenue & product launches) rather than his personal notability as an individual. Refs (India.com, TimesNowNews, DNA India) lack depth or are promotional in tone. Coverage in outlets ( Inc42 and ET Retail ) primarily discuss Veeba as a company, not Viraj Bahl individual legacy or influence beyond his role as founder. While his role as a judge on Shark Tank India(2024) adds to his public profile, this is recent and may not yet be supported by independent sourcing to confirm lasting notability failing WP:NBLP and many of the sources here are exactly what WP:NEWSORGINDIA tells us to watchout for. WP:ADVERT. Repeatedly created non-notable, WP:CORPDEPTH and WP:NCORP failing run of the mill company. This is the fourth time this non-notable company's article was created. It was successfully CSD'd for spam, re-created, AFD'ed, created for the third time, AfD', and now this is the fourth version. The page verifies it exited, it released this, it released that. This is essentially a POV fork of packaging waste, which itself can be seen as a POV fork of Packaging. Qwirkle (talk) 23:49, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Overpackaging is a legitimate article. First discussion was in Packaging waste but it became clear that there was sufficient material for a separate article.
Both the Packaging and the Technology wikiprojsects have rated this as a C.
The article has many excellent citations, indicating that this is an important subject. Some citations are highly technical.
Constructive input from other editors is welcome. Pkgx (talk) 01:06, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep There is significant coverage of overpackaging as a concept. Packaging waste is not the same thing: it results from any packaging, even minimal, and is also a topic that is addressed in many sources. For coverage about overpackaging, for example - here's an article about Korea penalising department stores and large supermarkets that overpackage goods: [1], and another about penalising excessive packaging for parcels: [2]. Here's an article about calls to cut back overpackaging in Taiwan: [3]. A couple of other articles about excessive packaging of parcels by online sellers: [4], [5]. This US Senate hearing from 1961 on Packaging and Labeling Practices (page 204) [6] explains that one reason for overpackaging is to stop goods being stolen. The Proceedings of the 2016 Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) World Marketing Congress has an article "Is it really worthwhile for a brand to eliminate overpackaging?" [7]. It certainly meets WP:GNG with significant coverage in reliable sources over a long period of time. RebeccaGreen (talk) 11:27, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been around for more than 10 years and does not indicate how the subject is notable per WP:GNG or WP:BIO. All the sources given are to works written by him, not about him. There is zero independent coverage of this company in reliable sources. A WP:BEFORE search returns numerous press releases about funding, stock market valuations, stock forecast, investment announcements, etc. The two articles from The Wall Street Journal are paid placements by Olmstead Williams Communications, which fails the WP:SIRS check. We are left with no independent sources with significant coverage of the company itself. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 07:43, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Churn and burn" is an expression in English, but the claim that it specifically refers to an anti-union tactic is dubious. The only reference in this article is a dead link to what appears to have been a minor news bit that was tangentially related at best. Google results reveal the phrase being used in many contexts with many meanings, but all references to it as a union-busting tactic seem to derive from this article, and even if some earlier reference could be found it would only be one of many uses of this stock expression. We don't have an article for "kill two birds with one stone" and we certainly don't describe it as concept in efficiency theory because one article used the expression. We should stop the cycle of citogenesis. -- LWG talk 15:11, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Random collection of bits and pieces from his career. Those with a separate article should be linked to from his main biography and don't need another page to summarize them, which would leave us with just two small sections, which probably just don't need mentioning at all as they are such minor aspects. Reviewed all sources and what I found are press releases, primary sources and passing mentions of the company. As of the time of nomination, sources number one to 8 are mostly press releases, and from number 9 to 19 are mostly primary sources. The few ones that look reliable are not enough to meet WP:GNG or WP:NBASIC. Mekomo (talk) 08:19, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This does not meet notability guidelines for WP:NORG as all sources reviewed are press releases and primary sources closely related to the organization. Only a few give minor coverage and those are insignificant to meet WP:GNG and or WP:NBASIC. Mekomo (talk) 07:37, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think editing rather than deleting would make the most sense. The company seems to have coverage on credible outlets like Yahoo Finance, Associated Press, SME Magazine, and more. Aziza553311 (talk) 06:34, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article on LeadDesk may warrant deletion if it does not provide sufficient evidence of notability under Wikipedia's General Notability Guidelines. Without significant coverage in reliable, independent sources, the article does not meet the criteria for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Loewstisch (talk) 12:35, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • weak delete: I'm unable to ascertain the quality of finnish sources, but a cursory search shows that there is no WP:NCORP in english or french (while i was at it) sources. the fact this was PRODed before tells me this is probably not a very notable company, despite their impressive list of costumers.

  • Merge to Universal Music New Zealand. There are problems with the nomination - record labels exist to release albums, so a label page mainly covering the artists makes perfect sense, and we should look to WP:MUSIC rather than ORG for guidance on music-related topics. WP:MUSIC 5 gives a sense of what an important label is, and this label, in my view, would only squeak by; it didn't operate for a very long time, and it primarily released the output of three artists (Annabel Fay, Goldenhorse, and Opshop) - but those three artists are famous in New Zealand. There is encyclopedic interest in linking these artists together and in providing basic information about their label's activity, and I think the best place for that is on the page of the current parent label of Siren, Universal Music New Zealand.
