Template is redundent as Template:Dalek stories covers the exact same episodes. As Davors rarely (if ever) appears without the Daleks every Davros story is also a Dalek story. Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 19:26, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Tries to use {{Excerpt}} in a clever way, but there are so many templates to deal with in 366 dated subpages that the programming is probably not possible. See the testcases page, where various problems emerge.

{{Totd}} is much simpler, and this template is used only in one user's page. I recommend replacing this template with {{Totd}} and deleting this one. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:14, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging Kolventra, who is the only user of this template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:15, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I'd like to see if I could make it more functional myself, but I suppose that may not be much of an excuse to keep it around. Kolventra (talk) 23:42, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would like this template moved to my userspace for the time being, thanks. Kolventra (talk) 00:18, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. I have made a copy of the template in my sandbox. Kolventra (talk) 02:39, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Only used on one article, the other links all redirect to places, not golf courses. --woodensuperman 11:36, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This map was added to essentially every possible article on Martian topics. It's since been removed as it breaks page formatting on mobile sites (as it fixes the width and navigational elements to each other, breaking scaling) and introduces MOS:ACCESSIBILITY issues (as screen readers can't parse an interactive clickable image map, in many cases), and I don't think there's a planet on which this is appropriate in article spaces per the MOS. The fact that it's a template in the form it is also required it be presented as its own section of an article, which it was across about 90 different articles. The information here should be in a navigation box (which, I believe, it already is, and was in the articles where it was used). It probably also warrants mentioning that grouping these as memorials on Mars appears to mostly be WP:OR-based going off of mission names or descriptions and a coherent list of memorials on Mars doesn't appear to really be a thing anywhere else. • Strong Keep. This long-term (2014) NASA image, totally appropriate for Wikipedia, should certainly remain on articles listed on the template. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:59, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: This isn't an XfD about the image, but rather the use of the image in a template which functions as an interactive navigational box. The template was only stable long-term on less visited articles, as it was added en masse by a single editor now banned for low quality edits. This template duplicates information found in Geography and geology of Mars navigational boxes present on all the pages it was removed from. I am unaware of any other context where navboxes are recreated in image form and slapped as their own section appended to the bottom of the article. I think this is a case less of "long term stable" and more "hidden because most editors aren't going to pages on Hellas Planitia." Warrenᚋᚐᚊᚔ 12:28, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Of course I know it's about the interactive image. Please be aware that interactive images have been used on Wikipedia since at least 2010 (maybe earlier, I have no idea) and you have indicated (hopefully in good faith) that if you knew that they were that you may rethink these deletion attempts. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:54, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But again, this is a WP:SYNTH map that recreates Navbox information, breaks page formatting, and has accessibility issues. That's a far cry from the careful, proportionate, detailed handling seen at Declaration of Independence (painting), for example. Warrenᚋᚐᚊᚔ 13:03, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per editor Randy Kryn. This is not the answer to the expressed issues. Other ways to resolve those issues should be explored, for example a well-structured Phab report. Deletion should be last resort, not the initial way to deal with such issues. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 13:25, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not a suitable topic for a navbox. This links to directors whose works have appeared in a series of DVD compilations, it does not link to the compilations themselves, so it is WP:UNDUE to place on any of the director's pages. --woodensuperman 11:20, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This was slapped over every Renoir adjacent page. I've since removed it and I don't think there's a context where this will see wider use on Wikipedia? Possibly on user pages, I suppose. Not sure if this one is a cut-and-dry delete, it seems to be a bit of an odd duck. This is a clear violation of MOS:ACCESSIBILITY though as it's masking useful information in an interactive form which can cause issues with screen readers, and it's also breaking the mobile site by fixing the image width relative to navigational elements. • Keep, this is a functional long-term (2016) image used on major visual arts pages. Please inform the visual arts Wikiproject, thanks. I've brought it back to two of them, including the principal page for its use, the boating party painting, and am working through keeping it without the edit war. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:11, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This XfD is not about the image (which absolutely belongs on that page, even in large detail) but an interactive template using the image which breaks formatting on mobile versions of Wikipedia and introduces MOS:ACCESSIBILITY issues, where we are called on not to mask information in interactive elements. Warrenᚋᚐᚊᚔ 12:30, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Randy, I think it's uncharitable to call a single revert and a large discussion following with no further edits to the page an edit war. Warrenᚋᚐᚊᚔ 12:30, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not saying it was an edit war, and apologies if that was implied, just trying to stop the reverts before it became one. BRD and all (when reverting like that I usually say "Will revert once..." and then explain in the edit summary, which you did but I don't know if you are an editor who keeps reverting the long-term template after one revert- they do exist and roam freely).
