Suspected sockpuppets

Two single-purpose accounts with similar editing and signature style whose only edits have been to tag-team Talk:Ruggero Santilli. Diffs: (Zkurko) [1] [2] [3] [4]; (LouisTheSmall) [5]. 70.125.25.14 (talk · contribs) has also contributed only to the talk and the article, claims to be the subject of the article, and signs with a text name rather than a user id like the two spas, but may be a different person — at least, the IP's talk page contributions seem focused on a purported Jewish conspiracy to suppress the subject's research while the two spas are more focused on supposed "damage" to Wikipedia caused by our labeling of fringe topics as being fringe topics. Kmarinas86 (talk · contribs) has also taken the same pro-fringe position (as well as attempting to excuse the IP's anti-semitism) but appears to be a legitimate and long-term Wikipedian. David Eppstein (talk) 20:33, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And now another one, ScientificEthics (talk · contribs), weighs in: diff. Added to the SPI. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:34, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to me that there may be more as a number of SPAs have arrived at other articles as mentioned at WP:FTN but I'm off to bed now. Of course this could be organised meat puppetry. Dougweller (talk) 22:06, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing you mean the ones mentioned at WP:FTN#Plasma cosmology and at WP:ANI#Personal attacks, edit warring etc by User:Orrerysky at Talk:Plasma cosmology and elsewhere.:
There's a connection in their choice of which fringe topics to support but their edits don't look as similar as the ones of these two to me. —David Eppstein (talk) 23:07, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And another new one, SlashXpose (talk · contribs). I guess I need to raise a separate SPI. Dougweller (talk) 07:00, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
User:Zkurko is now blocked. -- Brangifer (talk) 18:43, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm beginning to think this group is slightly separate from the Santilli/Zkurko group, mostly editing from Florida. These seem to be meat puppets canvassed on a Facebook group. The behavior that is encouraged by Orrerysky is definitely unwikipedian. -- Brangifer (talk) 16:45, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per this encouragement to report other possible socks, I'm adding the list I've been collecting.

This is a Revised list

These are all related to Plasma cosmology, Ruggero Santilli, and the activities and interests of User:Orrerysky (new account) and User:Wavyinfinity (much older account). There is uncertainty as to who is the real sockmaster behind this activity, but Orrerysky and Wavyinfinity are the most active right now. We are dealing with multiple real socks of one unbalanced person, and probably several meats who are various fans.

User:Wavyinfinity is obviously grossly misusing his userpage. He's using it to coordinate attacks on mainstream science and scientists.

Many IPs geolocate to Santilli's locality, and others are so ducklike (same arguments, added links, poor grammar, personal attacks, legal threats, anti-semitism, etc.) that they should be investigated.

Relevant links and histories to check

* Plasma cosmology - revision history

Not stale
Stale, but can establish a pattern and geolocation evidence
Currently blocked
Still unblocked

*Orrerysky (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) - Was blocked, but now very active. Newer account.

*Wavyinfinity (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) - Very active and misusing userpage. Older account

*CatRocket (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

*Reid Barnes (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

Stale

A number of these editors are already blocked, and the rest need to be checked. Please perform a CU. -- Brangifer (talk) 20:13, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mark. I quickly dumped the list here when I saw this was about to be closed. Give me a bit of time to go through the list and clean it up. -- Brangifer (talk) 19:07, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, take as much time as you need. Mark Arsten (talk) 19:14, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Revised list posted above to replace the first one. -- Brangifer (talk) 20:13, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You guys are going to have a hard time if you think I have any more than 1 account. It seems a more logical explanation is that certain people are paranoid and can't accept the reality that there is more than a single individual interested in these topics. (I only pop in because the notifications with my name being mentioned are a distraction) Orrerysky (talk) 19:43, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We seem to have two groups with overlapping areas of interest:
  • One group relates to Orrerysky's activities and interests. These seem to be meat puppets canvassed on a Facebook group. The behavior that is encouraged by Orrerysky is definitely unwikipedian.
  • Another group relates to Santilli/Zkurko, mostly editing from Florida. There are real socks and meatpuppets involved here. When I get time I'll try to separate them, since this SPI is more about the Santilli/Zkurko group. -- Brangifer (talk) 16:45, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Okay, I have stricken what isn't relevant to this SPI, and left the others (Santilli/Zkurko group) for study by CU and others. I suspect there are sleeper accounts which might be revealed by examining this evidence. Since User:Orrerysky threatened to "tunnel" accounts, it might still be worth checking him and the IPs he was using(every registered account has IPs behind it). -- Brangifer (talk) 06:46, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Can we add ClenserBlastAaa (talk · contribs) and Aabrucadubraa (talk · contribs), the first one editing but signing as the 2nd here. There's also another Florida IP 100.44.112.221 (talk · contribs) with just one post. Dougweller (talk) 21:57, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And since I wrote the above an SPI was raised at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aabrucadubraa but before I added them or that SPI was raised, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ScientificEthics/Archive was raised and is now closed. Dougweller (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 07:03, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't these all be grouped together under WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Ruggero Santilli? Meatpuppets usually get included in the SPI, so that would be an appropriate heading. Since so many of these socks have the same types of grammatical flaws, as found on his personal website, and other duck-like behaviors, the heading is even more appropriate. -- Brangifer (talk) 03:22, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
