Suspected sockpuppets

The editor MakaveliReed have been blocked by Fish and karate for disruptive editing in January 2018. The reason for the block because the editor keep changing recording dates in album-related articles without explaining why [1] [2] [3]. It appears the editor has made a new account is still doing the same thing. For example, in the article Bigger and Deffer, MakaveliReed keep changing the date range and have been reverted by Binksternet and me [4] [5]. With this new account the editor seems to return to the article and made this edit, and it doesn't help the edits are tag as mobile just like MakaveliReed. @Bbb23: What are you talking about? You clearly didn't take a closer look at these edits. The edits are very similar to that of MakaveliReed's.

  • Yup, same guy. This person was also so disruptive on Chicago IPs through May 2018 that a block was placed on the range Special:Contributions/2600:1700:9A70:7AC0:B5B9:957:ADC4:6799. Then today, the Chicago IP range Special:Contributions/2601:240:CF80:2F61:0:0:0:0/64 was blocked with a note identifying the sockmaster as MakaveliReed. So it's possible to check the suspected sock account against the IPs. In any case, the suspected sock should be indeffed for the same reason. Binksternet (talk) 06:36, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No need for checkuser. The named account and the IPs are listed here for the record. Tyshaun Williams was indefed in April 2020 for persistent date vandalism.[16] The range Special:Contributions/2600:1700:F190:CCD0:0:0:0:0/64 was blocked in May 2020 for three months, again for persistent date vandalism.[17][18] The only action that could be taken would be to block 64.107.48.2 and perhaps 73.168.142.237 who are from the same area and doing the same date vandalism.[19][20][21] Binksternet (talk) 21:08, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm rather baffled by it all. I assumed it was coordinated editing until I started looking closer. When I compared the history of Curtis1230 and Ralph0411 with each other and to past editors and ips that have been edit-warring over the same content, I saw the similarities with blocked editors/ips and the ips led to the MakaveliReed case. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 23:09, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk - I'm virtually certain that Curtis1230 and Ralph0411 are the same. The similarity in names, the concentration on Ja'Net DuBois, especially details of her birth and family, and as Hipal pointed out, the closeness of edit times. I'm less sure how this ties into the rest of the farm, but certainly worth checking against each other, and there's still some un-stale socks and IPs in the archives. -- RoySmith (talk) 22:02, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a long time since the last filing, so this one is a grab bag from the last year, with lots of activity.

Chicago IP range Special:Contributions/2601:240:CF02:38F0:0:0:0:0/64 was blocked in March 2022. Other Chicago IPs picked up the same date range style disruption.[37][38][39][40] Special:Contributions/2601:240:E200:58C0:0:0:0:0/64 was blocked today.

Deloris Williams29 followed Chicago-area IP 64.107.48.2 doing the same strange edit plus a wrong date change.[41][42] Another sequence.[43][44][45]

Checkuser unneeded as these are very much related by behavior. Blocked socks Alicia Williams8 and Tyshaun Williams8 added for the record. Binksternet (talk) 01:19, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Deloris indeffed. 2601:240:e200:58c0::/64 3mo by Drmies. 24.12 has only 3 edits, but they're all MR and go back to December, so let's split the difference and block 3mo. 98.206 1wk. 73.75 similar to 24.12, low usage but exclusive and static, 1mo. 98.213 1wk. This user has been making uncited or incorrect date changes to articles, something that MakaveliReed is known for. They are targeting the same articles, often making the same changes as confirmed socks of MakaveliReed do. (compare MR: [46][47][48] to TW: [49][50][51]) This duck isn't even trying to hide. Suspected sockpuppets

After AliciaWilliams29, a confirmed sock of MakaveliReed inserted a backdated cleanup tag, that tag was removed. After the insertion was reverted, these two IPs took action to re-insert the backdated tag, despite never having shown interest in the topic area before.
