Issues to be mediated
- Primary issues (added by the filing party)
- Should the two articles be merged?
- Should the picture in the lead of Balloon be a helium balloon or a hot air balloon?
- The Grove of Titans article is about some of the largest known coast redwoods. The name if unofficial. They do exist. The parks do not give locations, nor are there maps.

This dispute is over a back and forth link removal and addition between me and one other editor. In edits including ones shown near January 21, 2015, I cited that map links were deleted for being anonymous, non-authority.
Due to the unique nature of this grove, the Wikipedia team may need to make a decision to lock this page one way or the other. What you have is an undisclosed grove in an environmentally sensitive area. And some people don't want other people going there. The rangers don't want visitors either. On the other hand, others want to publish the location. This could lead to a continual back and forth mess in the article, particularly in the links area.
I suggested that an authority-based map be provided. But non exists. There are maps on amateur sites, from anonymous people, with fictitious names.
Until an actual official or expert-based map exists to add to the article, I request help to stablize the conflict over the link. Google maps showing the grove is also anonymous, probably posted by one of hundreds of hikers in the area. Google Earth likewise, had several GPS locations scattered by anonymous people.
Whether or not people should go to the grove, I hope to put aside, and hope arbitration can remain solely on whether to add or delete a link that is anonymous.

Parties' agreement to mediation
Decision of the Mediation Committee
- Reject. Multiple reasons. First, as a malformed request with no parties listed, no article linked, the listing form suggestions left in place, and material entered in this section where the instructions say for only mediators to enter information. Second, this appears to be a request for page protection which is outside the purview of the Mediation Committee (click here to request page protection). Third, even if this had been properly listed in reference to the dispute regarding the location of the Grove of Titans, it would almost certainly have been rejected under prerequisite for mediation #9 (a dispute which could benefit from dispute resolution at a lower level) and/or #4 (inadequate talk page discussion). For the Mediation Committee, TransporterMan (TALK) 14:44, 22 January 2015 (UTC) (chairperson)
- Actually, the link was included in my note. Let me repeat it again here > ... Grove of Titans ... as for the prerequisite, it would have fell under prerequisite #1 in any, benefit of the article and content. Basically the unique nature of that grove and small article will open the door to a long-term link conflict. But if you think it's better to aim for page protection, I can check into that. RE talk at the editor level, the other party disputing is coming in anonymous and was posting in the talk section more in a fashion of contention, rather than content resolution. In a nutshell, the article is a "different beast" because it was written about a spot with the largest known coast redwood. The place is not a destination. And the matter is fertile for article problems that we would never see with hundreds of other topics. The Real Luke Skywalker (talk) 15:06, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- In case this helps you understand why this article may have its own set of problems, I am going to provide an outside page showing wear and tear, before and after photos, over a matter of just a few years. 2 of the trees are in the grove this article is about. Again, the request for mediation, etc., was not meant for environmental protection. But this is to show why the article may get editors that don't want to resolve or talk-over conflicts as Wikipedia would hope for. If you happen to check and enlarge these photos, look how the vegetation diminished over the matter of just a few years see > Redwoods, Wear & Tear The Real Luke Skywalker (talk) 15:23, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
