Eventually, it will appear in thumbnail size on the talk pages of several hundred articles covered by the task force. • Strongest KEEP. The SVG version was Vectorized by hand. This means someone traced/redrew or autotraced the logo, creating this knock-off. Take png vs svg, and see if you can spot the differences. The font is not the same weight as the original and is missing the ff ligature, and the kerning is off. The mark is missing a drop shadow element, the gradient is off, and the shape is not exact (too pointy, size/dimensions off). If we can track down an vector version from an official source, I'd totally support a vector version. If editors feel inspired to convert raster images to SVGs, there is a whole category of images that should be in SVG format to be worked on. Many of them are freely licensed images, so the resulting SVGs would also be freely licensed and could have wide applications. Also, many of them do not have to be copied into SVGs in a pixel-perfect way. It seems that the time and effort of editors would be much better spent vectorizing these free images instead of non-free logos (which can't be freely distributed and should never be rendered at high resolution anyway). —Bkell (talk) 17:50, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Apparently, that was the old mark. Anyway, there is an SVG of the new mark, File:BlackRock wordmark N.svg. So now the png has been superseded, and SVG was extracted from an official PDF to boot, so it isn't a user re-created logo, but actual vector information from the source company. • The kerning (letter spacing) is clearly off (take note of the space between the 'a' and 'm' for example). Therefore the SVG is not accurately recreating the PNG.
