Nominator's rationale: There are only two pages in here, which isn't helpful for navigation when one is the namesake and the other is the organizaiton they cofounded SMasonGarrison 19:24, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Palestinian football biography stubs and Category:West Asian women's football biography stubs; particulars of what categories {{Palestine-women-footy-bio-stub}} should populate can be discussed at Template talk:Palestine-women-footy-bio-stub. Nominator's rationale: Underpopulated stub category not authorized through proper processes. As always, stub categories are not free for just any user to create on a whim -- there have to be at least 60 articles to file in a stub category before it's justified, so for that very reason stub categories have to be approved by the stub sorting project before they can be created. But there's no evidence that this was submitted for approval at all, and it has just seven articles, while the parent categories don't offer up 53 other women who could be refiled here to salvage it. The template is fine, since it can always just upfile articles into the parents in the meantime, but it can't have its own dedicated category without at least 8.5 times as many pages as this. The result of the discussion was: rename. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 04:01, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The word 'literary' does not seem necessary here. There may be a few more categories like this in need of renaming ("Category:Literary works by NAME"->"Category:Works by NAME"). I found but as there is no gadget I am aware of to make bundle nominations, I am just listing those I found here: Category:Literary works by Willem Frederik Hermans, Category:Literary works by Philip K. Dick (this one just needs an upmerge), Category:Literary works by Ferenc Molnár and Category:Literary works by Ko Un (Category:Literary works by Peter Handke is already a soft redirect to Works by...). • Rename as a kind of WP:C2C case. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:05, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support rename. By way of explanation, while I'm not super up to speed on this, from what I know, there's literary criticism that distinguishes between literary fiction and genre fiction. I don't know if that accounts for all the categories listed here, but I wonder if it might have been the reasoning behind something like Category:Literary works by Philip K. Dick as a subcategory of Category:Works by Philip K. Dick, on the grounds that The Dark Haired Girl and The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick include material like poetry and spiritual meditations that some might consider to be different from his general science fiction work.
Even that said, though, in any case, I'm not sure this distinction is super helpful for Wikipedia anyway. Maybe it could be introduced on a case by case basis if a particular author is especially known for producing lots of works that are considered genre or literary (or academic, maybe, if an author dabbles in both fiction and nonfiction). But in the nominated case, and in the listed cases, I think renaming is the right call (and upmerging for the Philip K. Dick category because the number of literary works is so few).
