LGBT nightclubs

- The result of the discussion was: delete. bibliomaniac15 02:17, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Propose deleting Category:LGBT nightclubs in Nebraska
- Propose deleting Category:LGBT nightclubs in North Carolina
- Nominator's rationale: delete per WP:SMALLCAT, currently each of the two categories contains one article about a defunct nightclub. Merging is not needed, the two articles are already in Category:Defunct LGBT nightclubs in the United States and Category:LGBT history in Nebraska/North Carolina. - Propose deleting Category:Books by Helga Kuhse ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: There is only 1 book in this category. LibStar (talk) 00:37, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
- Keep - part of Category:Books by writer. The author is a defining characteristic of a book. Oculi (talk) 14:16, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 21:55, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support, for a reader of the article it is just very annoying to click the category link in the expectation to find more books of this author only to find out you can only return to the article of departure. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:37, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- Are you disputing categorisation by defining characteristic? What is more defining of a book than its author? Are you disputing WP:Smallcat: "unless such categories are part of a large overall accepted sub-categorization scheme"? We have always kept single item categories for books, songs by writer etc (eg 2010 July 26#Category:Novels by David Marusek): I would find it irritating not to find a book in 'books by author'. Oculi (talk) 12:59, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- I am not disputing definingness, but definingness is a necessary criterion, not a sufficient criterion. Categories can be merged/deleted by any criterion in WP:OCAT, not just by WP:NONDEF. I am disputing the smallcat exception here, first because many book articles are not in a book by author category so it isn't that well accepted, and second for the reason I mentioned earlier. - The result of the discussion was: delete. bibliomaniac15 02:17, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:British men podcasters to Category:British male podcasters
- Nominator's rationale: Fuddle (talk) 19:48, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Separate question: Why nondiffusing? Fuddle (talk) 19:49, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:OCEGRS, men/male podcasters is not a notable topic in its own right. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:41, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Political sex scandals in China ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT. No point having a category with only one entry. (t · c) buidhe 19:12, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Political sex scandals in Germany ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT, no established category tree. I believe there are only two Wikipedia articles at present that could fit in this category. (t · c) buidhe 19:12, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Noritoidea. bibliomaniac15 02:21, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Noritaceae to Category:Noritoidea
- Nominator's rationale: Per the first sentence of Noritoidea:
Noritoidea, formerly Noritaceae, is an extinct superfamily of cephalopods belonging to the Ammonite order Ceratitida
. Animal lover 666 (talk) 19:07, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Comment, it would be helpful to quote a source regarding the name change. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:47, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support. This should apply to other subcategories of Category:Ceratitida. Category:Clydonitaceae, Category:Danubitaceae, Category:Pinacocerataceae, Category:Ptychitaceae, Category:Tropitaceae and Category:Xenodiscaceae all have the main article using the standard -oidea ending for animal superfamilies, rather than the non-standard -aceae ending previously used for prehistoric cephalopod superfamilies. - The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Proposed Kyiv Metro stations. bibliomaniac15 02:21, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Only railway station category named "proposed or under construction". Looking at the Category:Proposed railway stations by country tree, "under construction" categories are always sorted under the "proposed" categories, so choosing the more general name for consistency seems reasonable. ~~~~

- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge. bibliomaniac15 02:24, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Nightclubs in Europe by country to Category:Nightclubs in Europe and Category:Nightclubs by country
- Nominator's rationale: merge as a redundant category layer, it is the only subcategory of Category:Nightclubs in Europe. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:03, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Merge A lot of the subcats only have one article and might usefully be merged to the Europe category (without prejudice to re-creation, if they can be properly populated. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:25, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:LGBT places. A separate CFD can be opened to discuss merging Category:LGBT-related places to Category:LGBT places. bibliomaniac15 02:25, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:LGBT historic places to Category:LGBT-related places
- Propose merging Category:LGBT historic places in the United States to Category:LGBT places in the United States
- Propose renaming Category:LGBT historic places in the United Kingdom to Category:LGBT places in the United Kingdom
- Nominator's rationale: merge/rename, whether or not the places in these categories are historic is subjective. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:31, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support but remove Berkeley Castle from UK category. The gay link is that Edward II was murdered there, but he was deposed from the throne by a rebel lord, not primarily for homosexuality. The others may be important in LGBT history, but are not necessarily "historic". Peterkingiron (talk) 17:29, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Partly support but suggest Category:LGBT places; both for consistency and because "LGBT-related" is too vague. (t · c) buidhe 06:44, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- I am not against it, but renaming the target requires a separate discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:20, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- Alt per buide i.e. Category:LGBT places. Is the place historic in its own right or historic because of its LGBT associations? Laurel Lodged (talk) 20:54, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

Template:Horse-stub
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: not renamed. The issue appears to have been resolved with the creation of Template:Horse-breed-stub and the redirection of Template:Donkey-stub to Template:Oddtoedungulate-stub. bibliomaniac15 02:35, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Template:Horse-stub to Template:Equine-stub
- Nominator's rationale: Is supposed to be about the broader taxon, and {{donkey-stub}} redirects here too. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 14:35, 18 February 2022 (UTC)- Comment Oh man this stub category is a shitshow; because it combines equine species, horse breeds, and individual horses into one stub template.Working this out, I think the best way would be to direct {{Donkey-stub}} to Category:Odd-toed ungulate stubs (the order). I don't think renaming horses to equines would be a great idea, since the other two odd-toed ungulate genii (rhinos and tapirs) have only a couple of stub tags, so there isn't a need for distinction right now. Individual horses would be tagged with {{Horse-stub}}, while breeds would be tagged with the existing {{Horse-breed-stub}}. Does this make sense? Curbon7 (talk) 07:32, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Curbon7 Thanks, obviously the more specific stub cat should be used given it exists. I have added it to most of the relevant pages now (please check Indian half-bred – that one talks specifically about a "type"). @Pegship: The {{Horse-breed-stub}} you created has almost 90 transclusions now; can you create a category for it? ~~~~

- Propose renaming Category:12th Tripura Legislative Assembly members to Category:Tripura MLAs 2018–2023
- Nominator's rationale: This naming convention is in line with the others in Category:Members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly by term. Other Indian states also seem to follow this convention, e.g. Category:Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly by term -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:42, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
