- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Shrines in Lahore. The Bushranger One ping only 21:24, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Shrines of Lahore to Category:Shrines in Pakistan
- Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT and Category:Shrines in Pakistan as a wider topic. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 22:16, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - You could be opening a can of worms there Alan, seeing as Lahore lies in Pakistan, not India, even though historically it belongs to India as well. There were two major shrines that were definitely missing from that category (Data Durbar Complex and the Samadhi of Ranjit Singh). I would suggest that instead the Lahore category could be merged with Category:Sufi shrines in Pakistan to form a Category:Shrines in Pakistan, thereby avoiding international disputes. That said I see no reason that this category could not be recreated when there are articles on some of the other shrines in Lahore. Green Giant (talk) 00:29, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oops... A moment of geographical ignorance. Thanks for that.-- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 02:55, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose has potential for growth plus within an established sub-categorization scheme. I'd prefer to keep it. gidonb (talk) 07:20, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

- Rename to Category:Shrines in Lahore. It was isolated when it was nominated but is now a reasonable part of a hierarchy. – Fayenatic London 18:29, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, this is the correct name! gidonb (talk) 20:43, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Rename per Fayenatic. Seems we can have a well-populated category over time, even without (the Muslim equivalent of) parishcruft. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 00:45, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Jerusalem shrines to Category:Shrines in Jerusalem
- Nominator's rationale: per convention. I am not sure if "shrine" is the correct word for the contents. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 22:13, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Public schools in Sri Lanka ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Public schools in Sri Lanka ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: This is a duplicate of Category:Government schools in Sri Lanka. The Education in Sri Lanka article divides schools into government and non-government schools. The category name should follow suit. obi2canibetalk contr 17:12, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Split to Category:Private schools in Sri Lanka and Category:Government schools in Sri Lanka. The nominator is mistaken, because there are terminological difficulties here. This category appears to have been created for schools in the British public school tradition such as Royal College, Colombo and Trinity College, Kandy. However, it appears to have been subsequently expanded by the addition of some government schools, which in some places are known as "public schools". The boundary between a "British-style public school" and other "independent schools" is fuzzy, so in the UK public schools are categorised under Category:Independent schools in the United Kingdom. The same solution should be adopted here. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 12:38, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Government schools Sri Lanka are split into national schools (those controlled by the national government) and provincial schools (those controlled by the provincial government). This is why Category:Government schools in Sri Lanka has been sub-categorised into Category:National schools in Sri Lanka and Category:Provincial schools in Sri Lanka. All the articles currently appearing under Category:Public schools in Sri Lanka have already been categorised into one of Category:National schools in Sri Lanka / Category:Provincial schools in Sri Lanka / Category:Private schools in Sri Lanka. So there is no need to do any further work in splitting this category, it can be deleted.--obi2canibetalk contr 15:11, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Stuttgart Military Community to Category:United States military in Stuttgart
- Nominator's rationale: Rename to more accurately describe the category's contents. The current title and the category's explanatory text ("enduring communities") sound like a caricature of corporate communications. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:49, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Rename. Article is under Netherlands hence we do not add "The" in the brackets. Same with the United States and the United Kingdom. gidonb (talk) 13:29, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- 'Oppose per grammar and per other similar categories such as Category:Recipients of the Dutch Cross of Resistance (The Netherlands) and Category:Recipients of the Geuzenpenning (The Netherlands). --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:56, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for this input! Eleven days ago, three categories were created by the very same user. These are: Category:Recipients of the Dutch Cross of Resistance (The Netherlands), Category:Recipients of the Geuzenpenning (The Netherlands) and Category:Recipients of the Resistance Memorial Cross (The Netherlands). I pointed the creator to the discussion here. The name of the article and our policies have been discussed elaborately. Every now and then somebody does create articles or categories that deviate from our standards. Eventually these get picked up and corrected. gidonb (talk) 03:15, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Since they are by the same user, on the same day, under the same parent category, and equally deviate from our standards, I have added the other categories to this CFD. gidonb (talk) 03:24, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

- Rename all (changing my !vote). Sorry! I looked at this again, and it seems that I somehow missed the fact that the proposal is to remove the definite article from the disambiguator; I had somehow misread it as removing the definite article from the substantive title. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 12:44, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: Withdrawn On second thought, there is something to be said for consistency with the encyclopedic content, but it doesn't outweigh that the Palestinians would probably prefer to call their country Palestine instead of Palestinian territories. Unlike the encyclopedic content, there's no need to free up a name for the region. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 06:07, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
