Seems like an endless list topic, containing tens of thousands of people with Wikipedia articles. Perhaps topical sublists may in some cases be useful, but this indiscriminate dumping ground has no use as a navigational aid or anything else really. Fram (talk) 12:12, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

• Delete This was brought up at Talk:1980s#List of people, but I'm surprised this experienced user saw the obvious flaws of including this list in the main 1980s article yet thought it would be acceptable as a standalone list. • Delete on condition ONLY that this alphabetical list is never under any circumstances merged or restored or reinserted to 1980s, and that no further attempts are made to insert an alphabetical list of people into that article ever, for the rest of eternity. I created this page because it appeared to be the only way to stop the repeated pattern of insertion, removal and re-insertion of this list into 1980s, which is simply an excuse for editors to insert their favourite obscure celebrities into that article. (Carmel McCourt would be an apparent example). If we cannot agree to keep this kind of list out of the decade article, then moving it to a standalone page does serve one useful purpose, namely being a content trap to keep this kind of list out of the main article.
