Wiesław Marian Kukuła (born 16 March 1972) is a Polish general, serving as Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.
Education
He is a graduate of the Higher Officer School of Signal Forces in Zegrze and the Military University of Technology in Warsaw. He also graduated in defense policy from the Warsaw War Studies Academy.
Military career
In 1996, after being promoted to 2nd lieutenant, he served in the 1st Special Forces Regiment where he held positions from platoon leader to the chief of staff of the unit.[1] During his service in the unit, he was sent to serve as part of the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq. In 2006 he was appointed to the position in the Special Operations Forces Command. Six years later he took over the command of the Special Forces Group.[citation needed]
On September 20, 2016, was appointed as the Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces. On February 6, 2023, he was appointed as the General Commander of the Armed Forces.[2] On October 10, 2023, he became the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army.[3] On November 9, 2023, he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Poland to the rank of general.[4]
