@Chipmunkdavis: Thank you very much! I've been wishing someone to leave a message in my talk page for some time, and you are the first. I am more active on Chinese Wikipedia. Happy editing!--SUN8908──Talk 09:12, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I hope you enjoy editing here. CMD (talk) 09:44, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hope you would be fine. I have seen that you have nominated Lahore Qalandars roster for deletion. Their is another page with the title Draft:Peshawar Zalmi Roster, which was created accidently by me, it should be nominated for deletion as well.Floka 🐯 (talk) 14:47, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Their is already a page with the title "Template:Peshawar Zalmi Roster", this page is a extra. Floka 🐯 (talk) 16:40, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Then the page should be moved to the template namespace. As it is created earlier as template. The page should not be deleted in order to keep the edit history, by the fact that it was "merged".--SUN8908──Talk 17:27, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What If I blank it, the page is of no use, their is already a similar page. Ok I should be moving to the template namespace. Floka 🐯 (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Blanking a page doesn't do anything. It just makes a page with no content. If you want to nominate a page for CSD deletion, you should just tag {{db}}.--SUN8908──Talk 17:49, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes mate, I have already added the tag of deletion on that page. I'll add this one too. Floka 🐯 (talk) 17:55, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gigi Hangach redirect

Thanks for fixing that, though I can't work out what was wrong? Theroadislong (talk) 12:42, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong, the space character was not the most general space for Latin script. Sun8908──Talk 12:50, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh I see, I had just copied from the WP:REDIRECT page. Thanks. Theroadislong (talk) 12:59, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:59, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Explaination for I didn't do any Disruptive editing at the List of equipment of the Myanmar Army article.

Bro.I saw that you sent me Warning to my talk page. You are wrong.I didn't do any edits which is leading to Disruptive editing at the List of equipment of the Myanmar Army article.I'm just reverted (Undo) all of the edits made by 37.111.203.118 (talk) because his edits were destructive and in line with Wikipedia's Vandalism policy.I really don't want both Disruptive editing and Vandalism in the future. That why,I requested for Semi-protect at the Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. If you think I'm lying, you can check both List of equipment of the Myanmar Army: Revision history and Wikipedia:Requests for page protection pages. But,you'll see some persons are still editing with Disruptive editing. Therefore,I request you to semi-protect that page for a few months. Thar thar lay(military observer) (talk) 06:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thar thar lay(military observer), I didn't send any warnings on your talk page. Instead, I reverted edits by 37.111.203.118 (talk) on your talk page since those edits violated WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK. Then, I left a warning on User talk:37.111.203.118, not yours. Also, your request on WP:RFP doesn't seem evidential enough and blocking would be enough to deal with the problems (The IP has already been blocked). However, I am not an administrator (I do not even have administration rights) on English Wikipedia, so I do not have rights to handle your requests. Regards. HK Foundation Day

Hi Sun8908, I hope you are doing great. I notice that you have made a few changes to the page. Like, you've added the "Short description" tag, which I didn't know it existed until just now, and it clearly says something about my inexperience. Hahahah ^O^" Yet, I was just wondering whether it might be better to keep "translates as" rather than changing it into "means". It feels like it's doing a slightly better job at emphasising the aspect of literal translation and no interpretation whatsoever than "means". What do you say? Do please let me know. Regards =] Magnet larry (talk) 15:34, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Magnet larry, I didn't add short description when I created my first and only article though (and that was only last month):-) Yet "translates as" sounds unnatural to me and sometimes "literally" already has the meaning of translation (like the abbreviated "lit.") so I think it is not needed. It is also not the key point to emphasise. I think you can use "The literal translation is..." if you still think it is too ambiguous. Regards. --Sun8908 Talk 16:03, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sun8908, Thank you for your reply. I now see why you changed it. Of course, "translates as" may sound a little bit too formal and too old-fashioned because the dictionary uses it. Like, the Oxford Dictionary gives this example sentence: shiatsu literally translates as ‘finger pressure’ ==> https://www.lexico.com/definition/translate But this style of expression does the trick, doesn't it? And, yeah, perhaps you are right. The emphasis isn't needed. I guess I will just leave it. It's always good to have someone to proofread for you, right? And thank you ^.^ But, hey, wow, I mean you just created your first article last month. It seems you already know very well about how Wikiverse works, which I don't. But good for you. I wish I were half as good. See you around. Regards Magnet larry (talk) 17:43, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Magnet larry, yeah it's always good to discuss more on Wikipedia. I did a lot more edits on Chinese Wikipedia and Wikidata than English Wikipedia. The article I created last month is my first article on English Wikipedia. I do have some user rights on other wikis. However, there are different policies on different wikis. We need to adapt them when switching between wikis (besides rollbacking obvious vandalism). Sun8908 Talk 09:52, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sun8908 Wow, you must be good. Surviving Chinese wiki is tough. Anything remotely related to Chinese politics will probably just ignite a wildfire. That’s why I’ve been holding off on translating the page into Chinese, but you probably have already figured it out anyway ^.^”” Magnet larry (talk) 15:18, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Magnet larry: "Surviving Chinese wiki" might be easier than you thought. Although the admins are accused of working for someone, there is no doubt that zhwiki has a looser notability policy than enwiki and more articles can be created there, but still having a descent amount of viewers (more than yuewiki). Actually, there are many that kind of admins in enwiki too (in my POV). While avoiding ABF and following the policies, you will be able to survive that. There is also a WikiProject emphasising Hong Kong politics on zhwiki.(zh:PJ:香港政治) You're welcome if you would like to contribute on zhwiki. Sun8908 Talk 15:42, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sun8908 Thank you for the invite. Perhaps I will in the future. And Happy New Year ^.^ Magnet larry (talk) 12:57, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sun8908 You are everywhere in the wikiverse. haha ^O^ And I’ve just bumped into a page you edited in the cantonese wikisource. So, I guess, perhaps, I could ask you a rather technical question if you don’t mind. I’ve been trying to link up this eng wikisource page Proclamation of Assurance with this canto wikisource page 安民公告, but I can’t figure out how. Like, on the left of the page where it normally allows one to go check out other languages of the page, whenever I try to link the two up, the system asks for a language code to be input into first, but the canto wikisource doesn't hv one.
And at first, I thought maybe it was becos I'd created the 安民公告 page just yesterday, but when I tried to experiment with other existing canto wikisource pages, not pressing the "publish" button of course, still nope.
Do you by any chance know how to link them up? Thank you ^.^’’’Magnet larry (talk) 15:25, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To editor Magnet larry: The Cantonese Wikisource can't be linked from the English one unfortunately since Canto Wikisource is not an independent site yet. It is on the Multilingual Wikisource site (i.e. www.wikisource.org ) but I've added the link to enwikisource from the Canto site (oldwikisource:Special:diff/867626). For your information, the Cantonese language currently only owns Wikipedia (i.e. yue.wikipedia.org) and Wiktionary ( i.e. yue.wiktionary.org). The Wikiversity site has not yet started (even the test site) and the others, including Wikibooks, Wikivoyage, Wikinews and Wikiquote, are on Incubator (i.e. incubator.wikimedia.org). Sun8908 Talk 15:53, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sun8908 Sweet!!! You are AWESOME~ You got it done so fast!!! Even it's just one way, still AMAAAAAZZZZZING!! ^O^ As for other canto sites, hopefully I won't need to venture out to them too soon. Anyway, thank you so much! Magnet larry (talk) 16:16, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HKChronicles

Hi, @Sun8908, I reverted one of your edits on HKChronicles as HKChronicles is not a Hong Kong website. See Talk:HKChronicles for more information. Eight96Four (talk) 05:10, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Mirror (group)

On 3 June 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mirror (group), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Mirror, a Hong Kong Cantopop music group which does not want to go for a "K-pop feel", performed Korean pop songs at a concert? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mirror (group). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Mirror (group)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Translations

Hi Sun8908. I am thanking you for your recent edit to Ng Siu Ching. Since my time on wikipedia, I have been avidly editing articles on wushu but I know nothing about mandarin, cantonese etc., and so I am asking you if it is possible for you to create or expand several articles of this genre on mandarin or cantonese wikipedia. Here are some proposals for athletes:

Chinese athletes:

Hong Kong athletes:

Macau athletes:

Also, I just recently created the 2021 National Games of China and if you can add more info from the version on zh.wikipedia, that would be great. Thanks for all your work on this site. Yinglong999 (talk) 02:24, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

References improved for Shau Kei Wan East Government Secondary School article

Hi Sun8908,

I had improved the references for the Shau Kei Wan East Government Secondary School article so that it becomes notable. Thank you.

Leung Kin-fai

Hi @Sun8908, I have removed redirect and added some contents to the article Leung Kin-fai. I think it is appropriate to have a separate article for him as per WP:1E, "If the event is highly significant, and the individual's role within it is a large one, a separate article is generally appropriate." I do think July 1 police stabbing was a major event, having significant news coverage and arguably being one of the most shocking events in 2021 Hong Kong.

Thank you. Eight96Four (talk) 14:16, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Eight96Four: It appears not to be highly significant internationally. The event passes notability but it didn't get large attention outside Hong Kong. The English media reports are just some routine reporting about the event. The individual hadn't got any attention from any of the media for anything before the event. The stabbing becomes the only notable thing of him. Some more well-known cases include death of Chan Yin-lam and death of Chow Tsz-lok, the main flows of the articles are to emphasize the death (event), not what the person has done before. There isn't a separate article but instead just a section in the event article. Typically a "major event" really need to be internationally major, like George Floyd who triggered international protests after the death. Sun8908Talk 14:53, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Important notice

(no worries at all; I'm currently sending these to as many formally "unaware" people editing in the area as possible, because if a discussion at WP:AE is ever needed, a prior lack of such notifications can be very frustrating.)

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in edits about, and articles related to, COVID-19, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Thanks for adding information and references on my article “Error (group)”. Thanks so much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikipedianUser12 (talk • contribs) 18:08, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WikipedianUser12, I still don't think the article is ready for mainspace yet. The article needs some expansion in the "Career" section. It is very hard to pass the AFC submission now (since the sources in the article are still not that sufficient to prove notability). You may want to add more details, like ERROR Crazy Trip, Miss Mask Pageant, ERROR Selfish Project, and of course with reliable sources. Sun8908Talk 18:50, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sun8908, okay thanks.
