The sources you provided don't support what you claim in the article. Please add reliable sources that directly support the content you are adding, or they will be removed. Please see WP:PROVEIT. Annh07 (talk) 12:17, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, Annh07,
Just to set the record straight, the claim I added is fully backed by a proper source. Here’s the link to the official CONMEBOL website
Here is the tweet confirming the same [1]https://x.com/CONMEBOL/status/1413867606398881801
This source is as reliable as it gets, seeing as it’s from the hosts themselves. If there’s anything else you reckon needs tweaking, let me know, and I’ll sort it, no bother. Sniphelp (talk) 13:03, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, Annh07,
Cheers for your message, mate. I just wanted to clear things up. The info I added wasn’t plucked out of thin air—it’s backed by proper sources. The official CONMEBOL website, the folks who ran the tournament, said both players were MVPs. On top of that, big-name outlets from the UK, Spain, France, India, and Argentina have all run stories confirming the same.
Look, I get that Wikipedia’s all about proper sourcing—fair play. But these are solid references, and they do back up what I added. If there’s something specific you reckon isn’t up to scratch, let me know, and I’ll sort it out sharpish.
Let’s keep things constructive, yeah? Happy to work together on this. Sniphelp (talk) 12:51, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The sources you have provided are reliable, however they don't support what you claim. The sources only say that Messi and Neymar both deserved to be the best player of the tournament, but none of them talk about the controversy when the award was only given to Messi. You said that the award was controversial, you should have provided sources that talked about the controversy, otherwise it is just your personal opinion. Please see Wikipedia:No original research. Thank you. Annh07 (talk) 13:25, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your feedback mate. I understand that the sources provided discuss Messi and Neymar both deserving the award, but do not explicitly address the controversy surrounding Messi being the sole recipient.
That said, if the decision before the final and after the final differ, suggesting a biased approach on the part of the tournament organisers.
How can I incorporate this effectively? Should I focus on highlighting the difference between the decisions before and after the final, and use a two-column format as suggested? How can I ensure it remains neutral while presenting the information clearly? Sniphelp (talk) 14:49, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is original research because there is no source that directly supports what you say. Please read WP:SYNTH. Annh07 (talk) 15:50, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your clarification, Annh07. I appreciate your feedback. I believe the topic about the differing announcements before and after the final (regarding co-MVPs and Messi being the sole recipient) is significant and worth including for its relevance to the tournament's narrative.
Could you please advise how I can structure this content to meet Wikipedia’s guidelines? For instance, if I were to present the timeline of events factually—highlighting the pre-final co-MVP announcement and the post-final decision—without introducing subjective interpretations, would that be acceptable? I would say your first order of business is to find reliable sources that directly support what you're saying, rather than trying to include it in the article. No matter how you present your content, if it doesn't have at least one reliable source that directly supports it, it will be removed. If you need help please post a question at the Teahouse.
