User talk:Seankieran

They took out my pictures from the BSG userboxes. They were said to have violated Fair Use Policy. Can you help? Sith Penguin Lord 19:59, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use image use

Five times now [1][2][3][4][5] I have removed fair use, copyrighted images from your userpage. You have previously been informed of the policy explicitly against the use of such images on your userpage (see above comment from me dated 16 April 2007). Despite this, you continue to keep placing new violations of this policy on your userpage, such as the one you did just yesterday [6] placing Image:Mr. Haney.jpeg in a new userbox on your userpage. This behavior is completely unacceptable. I am at a loss as to understand why you are failing to adhere to this policy. I have once again removed the fair use image from your userpage. If you insist on continuing to place fair use, copyrighted images on your userpage it is highly likely you will be blocked for violating our policies. I am happy to help you understand our policies, but continuing to willfully violate them is intolerable. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thanks, --Durin 20:15, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:TerranEmpire.png

Thanks for uploading Image:TerranEmpire.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free image (Image:BSG-WIKI SM.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:BSG-WIKI SM.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Seankieran. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:BSG-WIKI SM.png) was found at the following location: User:Seankieran. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 07:35, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've retagged this image as {{non-free logo}} due to the fact that it is blatantly a derivative work of Image:Terran empire-symbol.png. I've subsequently removed it from your userpage, and marked it as an orphaned fair use image, due to it not being used on any main namespace articles. Please understand; simply substantially recreating a copyrighted image does not transfer rights of that image from the original copyright holder to you. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. --Durin 16:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Arnold Ziffel.jpeg

Thanks for uploading Image:Arnold Ziffel.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:31, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Oliver.jpeg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Re: Thanks

Nice job on the Plot so far. User:S@bre and I have been working on it recently, but haven't done much in the past few weeks. It's nice to see some interest in it again from others. Gary King (talk) 22:07, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I suppose they could be separate. I'll wait and see the final result, because the length is my primary concern. Ideally, the whole thing will be under 700 words, which is what the WP:FILM guidelines recommend and it's something I agree with in most cases. It's currently 627 words. StarCraft (series) is a good guide for a series Plot section. Gary King (talk) 22:13, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nice job on the plot. Did you just write it all from memory, play the game and make notes, or what? :) Gary King (talk) 19:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Thanks (2)

No problem, I really need to get back to work on that article at some point. Just got distracted with other things. I imagine that the section will probably need copyeditting again as I'm not the best with that "brilliant prose" requirement for an FA, but it should be nice and easy to finish off the last paragraph with full EP3 info when its released (I wouldn't worry about the future game tag, that's only really appropriate for the main article). As Gary said above, I'm glad to see someone else working constructively in the area again, its mostly been only myself and Gary in recent months. -- Sabre (talk) 12:02, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Deborah Norton.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Deborah Norton.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ╟─TreasuryTagconstabulary─╢ 16:35, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please update your status with WP:VG

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Hello. WikiProject Futurama is being revived. Since you are listed as a participant here, you have received this message to make sure you still are. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Record Store Day, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jethro Tull (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
