Broadhurst Park
The article is going to be reviewed for GA :) If you'd like to help me once the suggestions start coming through, feel free! Review is here: Talk:Broadhurst Park/GA1. Cheers! Del♉sion23 (talk) 16:54, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Delusion23, hope you're having a great New Year's Day. I'm very happy to help out with the review; I'll actually make sure to have a read through the article tonight and fix any problems that I spot. I'll be having a close look at Wizardman's comments and will pitch in to the best of my abilities. Thanks for letting me know about this, and here's to a successful GA review :-) odder (talk) 20:13, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Delusion23, so I made a few edits to the article, and I hope it's a bit better now. Well done, you! P.S I note @Wizardman's comment about the picture in the infobox (that you took); I actually had a few tries at photographing the front of the ground with a DSLR camera, but (no surprise) it's always been too cloudy, and I'm afraid it'll have to wait till at least April when we get proper sunshine (and I have the camera with me). If I manage to get a decent picture, I'll let you know ;) odder (talk) 20:34, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the help :) I'm hopeful that the article will go to GA status soon. There's no rush with regards to the picture but looking forward to seeing it. With regard to what to improve next I am wondering if List of F.C. United of Manchester seasons could be got to featured list status. Cheers again! Del♉sion23 (talk) 20:46, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Delusion23: I'd say go for it! I just edited that article slightly, too, and if you think it's worth giving it a go, then I'm all in, just let me know if/how to help :) odder (talk) 20:52, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- Another idea would be for us to nominate Broadhurst Park for WP:DYK. Would be nice to see it on the front page :) Just need to think of a hook. Del♉sion23 (talk) 21:26, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Delusion23: How about: did you know… that F.C. United of Manchester's Broadhurst Park stadium includes a recycled stand previously used at another football ground? odder (talk) 21:44, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sounds great to me :) Del♉sion23 (talk) 12:17, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

DYK for Broadhurst Park
It was a great game! Highlights already on YouTube :) Perhaps we could meet at next home game to discuss plans for next article? Give me an email. Cheers Del♉sion23 (talk) 00:06, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Delusion23: Sent you that e-mail shortly after your message above, by the way. odder (talk) 15:57, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
Condescending female honorifics
Hi, I am probably the editor responsible for putting some of the condescending female honorifics in the Manchester Gorton (UK Parliament constituency) page. Your reaction to seeing them is understandable. However, they are there for a reason that has nothing to do with style. You should be aware that this is only done for candidates who are not linked. I do this often as part of the work I do researching names of parliamentary candidates and adding links where none previously existed. The problem with IDing women is their last name often changes, whereas this rarely happens with men. With women, it helps with subsequent IDing to know if the last name they use is the one they were born with or one which they acquired later in life. Knowing the right prefix at a given date particularly helps when the full name of the candidate is not known. Many of the sources used for candidates, particularly historical, don't include the full name and may just contain initials and these initials may not even be hers but those of her husband. A 1950 candidate appearing as M.H. Roberts might not seem to have any connection to a 1959 candidate appearing as D. Thatcher. Knowing that the first was a Miss and the second a Mrs helps us to make the connection if we didn't already know it. I tell you all this because I don't want you to trawl around Wikipedia deleting these key reference points in the IDing process being used by editors such as myself. Graemp (talk) 14:37, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Graemp, thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. I can understand why you do this, however it changes nothing in how I feel about Wikipedia using honorifics only for the female candidates (which is, deeply uncomfortable). I wonder if there is any other solution that can be used here. And don't worry about me going around Wikipedia to remove them from other UK parliamentary constituencies; I only got to the Manchester Gorton article after doing a bit of reading on the politics of Greater Manchester (and I got there like this starting at the article about the M56 and the M60, heh.) odder (talk) 14:47, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. To be honest I don't think there is a solution that would satisfy everyone. Perhaps having the marital status in brackets after the name rather than as a prefix would be less condescending but very time consuming to go round and make all the changes with the probability that some people might still consider this condescending. Wikimania 2016 is almost here! Mjohnson (WMF) and I are running two workshops for IdeaLab during the conference, and you are invited to join us for either (or both!)
If you have a proposal or idea you are thinking about, and would like a space to work on it on your own or with others, please consider joining us for either the Thursday or Saturday sessions. We'll discuss a little about IdeaLab and how it works, and the rest of the time is space for idea building. You can also use this session to ask questions about Wikimedia Foundation grants that are available if your proposal or idea may need funding. Thanks, and see you at the conference! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:45, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
- @I JethroBT: Oh! I will only be arriving in Esino Lario at around 20:30-21:00 on Thursday, so I won't be able to make it to your first workshop :-( I haven't decided yet which workshops/meetings I'll attend, so I'll take your invitation into consideration; thanks! odder (talk) 20:50, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Odder: No problem-- both workshops will be the same format basically. I'll see you there! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:59, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
An update from the Sustainability Initiative
Hi, Odder! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.
What's new?
We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)
What's next?
Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.
Please help!
Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:
- Ask other Wikipedians to sign the project page as well – this way we can show the Wikimedia Foundation that this is an issue that the community really cares about.
- Talk to Wikimedians you know about the importance of reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement.
- Improve and translate the project page on Meta.
If you have any questions, you can contact us on on Meta. Again, thank you very much for your support! --Aubrey und Gnom, 2 April 2017 —Preceding undated comment added 20:32, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
Hmm..Probably this UAccount is related to Wikipedia:Meetup/UK/Salford Wikipedia workshop, November 2017. Isn't it? Otherwise, it's a bit surprising when a long-stale account (for above ten years) shows up at NPP feed(Users) with another account created at the same time that almost entirely matches her entire set of new contribs. It may be noted that both of them didn't co-identify to one singular project/meetup:) Anyways, regrets, if this caused any problems:) Regards:)Winged Blades Godric 15:23, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Event coordinator
Hi, the English Wikipedia recently created a new user permission for editors involved in off-wiki outreach work, event coordinator. This new permission allows users to mark accounts for confirmed for up to 10 days, and also allows them to create accounts for events without rate limits without some of the features of the account creator right that aren't used at edit-a-thons and other events. I have added the event coordinator permission to your account and removed the account creator permission, as you appear to have been using it mainly for outreach work.
This should have no noticeable impact on your ability to create accounts, and will give you the extra ability to temporarily confirm accounts if you need to. For more information, you can see the information page on the right, or you can ask me if you have any questions. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:53, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- @TonyBallioni: Thank you for the information, and also for guiding the RfC and for the effort you put into letting us know about this. I wasn't aware of the discussion—as you can see I have in the past only used the noratelimit user right once a year—but I think it's a welcome step in the right direction; I certainly appreciate that I will now be able to mark accounts as confirmed; having to solve CAPTCHA every time we tried to add a reference using {{Cite web}} was quite a painful experience :-) Again, many thanks for your work on this, odder (talk) 22:15, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
Phase-out of lightweight plastic bags
Just going through the article Phase-out of lightweight plastic bags. Has the plastic bag charge mentioned in this article (http://www.thenews.pl/1/12/Artykul/340482,Boost-for-Poland%E2%80%99s-state-coffers-from-shopping-bags-report) actually come to pass in Poland yet? I can't find any English language sources that say it has. Perhaps there are Polish language sources confirming? Thanks. Del♉sion23 (talk) 20:32, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- I haven't noticed this, despite having travelled to Poland twice this year (so I guess the charged worked?), but apparently there is a minimum charge of 0.25 PLN on all single-used plastic bags. Interestingly, stores can charge a higher amount if they want, and some of them indeed have been. I've now edited the article citing sources in Polish. odder (talk) 12:41, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, Odder. I have seen that you voted in 2016 against Vituzzu to be confirmed as Steward. I agree with you and for further information about "who is Vituzzu", please go to [REDACTED - Oshwah] Sincerely, M1959 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.196.81.57 (talk) 22:09, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
Ethiopian Coffee S.C.
Hello Odder can you help in converting File:Ethiopian Coffee S.C.jpg to an SVG form. Hooaos (talk) 16:51, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Hooaos: I'm really sorry, but I haven't got the time to work on this at the moment. Perhaps someone at the club has the logo in SVG or a different vector format that could be converted to SVG? I except their marketing or branding team would be working from vector files for their promotional materials, accessories etc. odder (talk) 20:03, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
