Revert to Moonface

I just made a completely valid and factual edit to Spencer Krug, which you reverted. What gives?

Siinai doesn't have their own article and is not notable enough to be included in the infobox. Oddbodz (talk) 20:53, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Bench Press article

Hi, I have found that the bench press article contains multiple sections written as a how-to guide, in some cases going far beyond the subject of the article to prescribe exercises other than the bench press ostensibly to prevent injuries. I have deleted these sections but you have reverted at least one of my edits. I will refrain from deleting other material from the article for this reason, but please consider that the text I had deleted had nothing to do with an encyclopedic description of the bench press. Thanks. 75.180.29.69 (talk) 01:06, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, your edits were correct and those sections should have been in the article. I missed your edit summary and mistakenly identified your edits as vandalism. Feel free to go ahead and remove the sections if your sure they violate WP:NOTMANUAL. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Oddbodz (talk) 01:10, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, I will do so. 75.180.29.69 (talk) 01:12, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Airship NS11 crash

Per WP:DENY, the article has been deleted, as Ryan's case is getting very close to needing WP:LTA applied. However, if you (or anyone else) wants to legitimately restore the article, just ping me and I can email a copy to you to use as a basis. - The Bushranger One ping only 19:39, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Pork Tornado Article Edit

Just wondering why you reverted my removal of material in the Pork Tornado article of what seems to me to be completely and exclusively promotional content contrary to WP:PROMOTION. Including the date and location of an upcoming performance by a band in their article surely constitutes "promotion", does it not? Thanks 70.48.218.35 (talk) 17:14, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

It didn't really contribute to promotion in my eye. Lots of band's articles have dates and locations of where they're playing/have played. I would agree that if someone had listed every venue they were playing on that tour, it may constitute as promotion (although some artists have articles exclusively about the tour with every date and venue listed - take Taylor Swift's Red Tour for example. However, the bit you removed was about a festival they were playing at, separate from their tour, and I would not, therefore, view this as promotion. I hope this answers your question, Oddbodz (talk) 18:25, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Codename Lisa (talk) 00:16, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Hey, Oddbodz, just wanted to let you know that I took off your CSD tag from this article. As seemingly inappropriate is, schools are specifically excluded from the A7 speedy deletion criterion, and G5 doesn't fit, as it wasn't made by a user in defiance of their block or ban (they created it before they were blocked). If you know an article should be deleted, but it doesn't fit any of the CSD criteria, it's usually better just to prod it, I find. Thanks! Writ Keeper 00:27, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Ok, thanks - I'll do that now (on a side note, I read at Wikipedia:All high schools can be notable that primary (elementary) schools don't come under this exclusion and that's why I CSD'd rather than PROD'd). Oddbodz (talk) 00:33, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Well, the thing is that that article is talking about actual notability, not eligibility for A7; A7 is a different test. Instead of notability, A7 looks for a credible assertion of importance or significance, which is a very loosely-defined standard, but one that is definitely a lower bar than notability. I usually think of a credible claim of importance as something like "a claim that is not totally implausible and seems like the kind of thing that might get them mentioned in reliable sources." I'm sure that, if you ask ten other editors of what A7 means, you'll get ten totally different answers, but the point is that it's not the same as actual, honest-to-God notability per se. Just because a thing isn't notable doesn't mean it can be deleted under A7, even if it fits one of the A7 categories (people, companies, etc.). It's kind of a silly thing, but them's the breaks, and editors are discouraged from...let's call it "creativity" when it comes to CSD. No worries, just one of those things. :) Writ Keeper 00:41, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Ah ok, thanks Oddbodz (talk) 00:46, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Nativity/Nativity 2 edits

Hi I just added some info to the pages for Nativity and Nativity 2 about the third film but these were removed by you for not having a source. I'm new to editing so bit useless at adding links but the information has some from the Twitter page of the director, Debbie Isitt (@DeborahIsitt), if you'd like to check yourself. There is definetely a third film and it definetely starts filming next month. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.182.142.57 (talk) 00:20, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. WP:TWITTER says that in this case, a Twitter citation will be acceptable. If you could provide me with the URL for the Twitter post, I would be happy to add it to the articles for you. Thanks, Oddbodz (talk) 00:48, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Ok, that's all done - as you made good faith edits, I shall remove the warnings from your talk page. For future reference, the most simple way to add a citation is placing by <ref>YOUR URL HERE</ref> after the sentence you wish to cite. If you need anymore help with citations, see Help:Footnotes and if that doesn't help, just drop me a message and I'll try and point you in the right direction. Hi Oddbodz i'm Jeffrd10. Thanks for helping me and fellow Recent-Changes Patrollers fight vandalism. However you might wan't to look more carefully at this edit I don't think that it's vandlism. I'm not sure what you are talking about because I don't think I've made any changes to Aiden Turner's page, none that I can remember anyway. I don't think I've even been on his page since I went to watch that Mortal Instruments film back in August :/ When were these changes made? Are you sure you've got the right person? :/ Also, I'm not too sure why I'd make such a silly edit to be honest. It seems completely illogical :/ lol. Could you look into this for me and maybe explain a bit more or confirm that it actually was me? Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meezo999 (talk • contribs) 17:22, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi !

You sent a warning to this IP address. However, this is a dynamic IP of Oxford University, so unlikely you're going to get the person you originally targeted, as there are 30,000+ users. Cheers. --129.67.115.252 (talk) 17:27, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Can you check if I have resolved the sourcing issue with this article? I have added a few (one of which I fear is probably not good enough (A blog)), and would appreciate your opinion on it. Thanks, --Mdann52talk to me! 20:47, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Yep, I'm happy with those. The main bits I felt needed citing were the 88 degree drop bit and the Opening section. In regards to the blog, you've backed it up with other sources so I'd say its fine. Seeing as this was the only issue prohibiting GA status, I feel the article now meets all the requirements an I will grant it GA status. Oddbodz (talk)
Just noticed the other editors concerns with the article. I will have another check, but will leave it on hold for now. Oddbodz (talk) 21:31, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Should now be fixed; can you check again? --Mdann52talk to me! 13:20, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

Phantom Warnings

Hi there - I'm not sure why this is happening but I've had messages from several users saying that they've had warnings that weren't meant for them. Basically, I use a semi-automated tool called Huggle and this allows me to revert vandalism and warn the offending user with a single click of a button. I can tell by looking at your edit history that these vandal edits are nothing to do with you but for some reason, you're saying that you've received these warnings. However, by look at all 3 talk pages I can't see any record of them - could you provide me with a link to them. If I have a link to them, I can forward it to the guys who look after Huggle. In the case of 86.181.10.165, it may be that you're using a dynamic IP and have picked up messages that weren't meant for you but I'll need a link to the message to investigate further. Thanks, Oddbodz - (Talk) (Contribs) 17:34, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Would you care to address this here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:2620:0:862:1:91:198:174:70&redirect=no so people can see your reply as soon as they click on "you have new messages" and aren't confused anymore? As I am one of those who you sent the message threatening with blocking us, I think it would be most helpful. Thanks.62.245.69.24 (talk) 17:39, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

I were indicated that I have three new messages at User talk:2620:0:862:1:91:198:174:70, which, as you can see, is not my IP. If this is due to the tool you use, I'd suggest stopping to use it. --91.156.22.16 (talk) 17:46, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
This seems to be a Wikimedia server error. 2620:0:862:1:91:198:174:70 belongs to Wikimedia. I can not assume any way why I got the notice of a new message with a link to that IPs user discussion. The failure seems not to be with huggle, but rather with the Wiki for confusing IPs. --193.170.229.160 (talk) 17:47, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine revert

Your reasoning for undoing Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine was claimed to be 'didn’t appear constructive to me'. Just how do you define 'constructive'? The reverted entry already met notability and truthful requirements. Regardless how you define 'constructiveness', pretending the entry doesn't exist is not exactly constructive either. -- 142.150.48.218 (talk) 19:51, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. Sorry but I accidentally mistook your edit for vandalism. The reason for this is that 9 times out 10, a 'Zombie Survival Car' is going to be someone's idea of a joke and would be unconstructive. However, on further inspection, I can see that it is a real thing and shouldn't have been removed. Oddbodz - (Talk) (Contribs) 19:55, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
I agree and apologize for my removal. I removed it the second time as I assumed it was repeated vandalism that we see so much. Thank you for the explaination and pointing me here. Turgan Talk 20:20, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Huggle 3

Hey Oddbodz! I am Petrb, one of core developers of Huggle, the antivandalism tool, which you are beta testing (according to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers). I am happy to announce that Huggle 3 is ready for some testing. You can read more about it at WP:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta. Please keep in mind that this is a development version and it is not ready for regular use. That means you must:

  • Watch your contribs - when anything happens you didn't want, fix it and report a bug
  • Frequently checkout source code and build latest version, we change it a lot

If you find any problem with a feature that is supposed to work perfectly, please let us know. Some features are not ready yet, it is listed in known problems on Huggle3 beta page, you don't need to report these - we know it! So, that's it. Have fun testing and please let us know about any problems, either using bugzilla @ http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/ or #huggle connect. Please respond to my talk page, I am not going to watch your talk page. Thank you Petrb (talk) 10:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. I am trying to correct wrong information about the board of directors that are listed on the Canadian Commercial Corporation wiki page. Edit reversions

This is Cory Panshin. The ISP hosting Alexei and Cory Panshin's webpage has managed to screw something up so that links to our site using the old www.enter.net/~torve URL now return an error message while those using our own domain name www.panshin.com are directed properly. I have been going through updating them -- and you have been following me around, reverting them to a non-functioning link, and accusing me of "harming" the pages. So how do I get past this and get the links to work? Alexei Panshin (talk) 19:29, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Cory Panshin

Hi there, I have a couple of points to raise regarding this. Firstly, as you have already been told, this is a potential breach of WP:COI as you have a conflict of interest. Secondly, if you were making these edits legitimatly, you should have explained this in the edit summary. Other wise, it just looks like someone adding a load of links to their website. On another note, you shouldn't be sharing an account. If you wish to make edits, this should either be anonymously of by your own account - see WP:UPOL. Thanks, Oddbodz - (Talk) (Contribs) 19:48, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
I apologize for not explaining the changes. I thought it would be obvious that nothing had been added to the page and that only the URL had been updated. However, I will create a separate account under my own name and redo the updates with a full explanation if that will be satisfactory. Alexei Panshin (talk) 20:06, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Cory Panshin
It wasn't that I couldn't tell what edit you had made that was the issue. The problem was that you didn't explain why you made it. Oddbodz - (Talk) (Contribs) 20:11, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Ah, okay. I don't edit regularly, and I thought that explanations were just for major changes or things that might be controversial. I'll know better from now on. Alexei Panshin (talk) 20:22, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Cory Panshin

GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive

Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days!

In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00.

At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or leave a message on the Backlog Drive talk page. And remember, there are less than 4 days before the drive starts!--EdwardsBot (talk) 03:14, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

March 2014 GAN Backlog Drive

It's that time again! Starting on March 1, there will be another GAN Backlog Drive! There will be several changes compared to previous drives:

  • This drive will introduce a new component to it; a point system. In a nutshell, older nominations are worth more points than newer nominations. The top 3 participants who have the points will be awarded the Golden, Silver, or Bronze Wikipedia Puzzle Piece Trophy, respectively.
  • Unlike the December 2013 Backlog Drive, earning an additional barnstar if you reached your goal has been removed.
  • The allowance to have insufficient reviews has been lowered to 2 before being disqualified.
  • An exception to the rule that all reviews must be completed before the deadline has been created.

Also, something that I thought I would share with all of you is that we raised $20.88 (USD) for the WMF in the December 2013 drive. It may not sound like a lot but considering that that was raised just because we reviewed articles, I would say that's pretty good! With that success, pledges can be made for the upcoming drive if you wish.

More info regarding the drive and full descriptions regarding the changes to this drive can be found on the the drive page. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on the drive talk page.

I look forward to your participation and hope that because of it, some day the backlog will be gone!

The article Roar (Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NSONGS, not enough information to grow beyond a stub

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. We need your help testing latest huggle

Hello,

I am sending you this message because you listed yourself on meta:Huggle/Members as a beta tester. We desperately need attention of testers, because since we resolved all release blockers, we are ready to release first official version of huggle 3! Before that happens, it would be nice if you could test it so that we can make sure there are no issues with it. You can download it packaged for your operating system (see Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta) or you can of course build it yourself, see https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx for that. Don't forget to use always latest version, there is no auto-update message for beta versions!

Should you find any issue, please report it to wikimedia bugzilla, that is a central place for huggle bugs, where we look at them. That is i mportant, if you find a bug and won't report it, we can't fix it. Thank you for your work on this, if you have any questions, please send me a message on my talk page, I won't be looking for responses here. Thanks, Petrb (talk) 15:20, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
