The Torture Never Stops

Hey listen, facts are facts, regardless if you can play the video or not. Frank Zappa did in fact perform the song in 1981 so it is kind of silly to delete factual information all bc you cannot play a source video.

Also there are videos you can only play on YouTube and no other website and sometimes it is easy to just assume that a certain video cannot be played where in fact it can only be played on YouTube and nowhere else. Not saying you don't know that ofc, but I made that mistake too, so it is just a friendly reminder. -Cm09181992 (talk)

Don't Eat the Yellow Snow Suite and Joe's Garage

A million thanks for creating pages about those two songs. I couldn't believe there had been no article on "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" for such a long time. Could you please make an article on "Jewish Princess?" --Sow-crates (talk) 01:13, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject proposal

You have a history of contributing to Frank Zappa-related material and articles. If I proposed a Wikiproject centered around Frank Zappa as a way to make articles on the subject more organized, would you support my proposal? Friginator (talk) 00:05, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I think a big part of the project should be to have articles for all of Frank Zappa's singles. Zappa has so much information on him that I'd totally support him having his own project. --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 00:37, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! If you could add your name to the list here, that would be great. Friginator (talk)

Good. I've contacted several other editors who have helped on Zappa articles in the past. I'll give it until next week to make a proposal, but it's good to know you'll support it. Cheers. Friginator (talk) 00:42, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Is there any relationship between you and MrMoustacheMM (talk · contribs)? Your usernames are far too similar for me to think it coincidence. --IllaZilla (talk) 02:44, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

His profile says he likes grindcore, death metal, and blackmetal (I like none of these) though industrial is cool. Also Mr. Moustache is a song by Nirvana (If you see the Bleach album) so it makes sense that others may have similar profile names . --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 10:20, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah-ha, I didn't know it was a song title. That explains it. You may want to consider adding {{distinguish}} to the top of your userpage so others will know you're not the same person (as recommended by the username policy). --IllaZilla (talk) 14:57, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion contested: Mood for a Day

Hello Mrmoustache14. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Mood for a Day, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, or is not a musical recording. Thank you. Theopolisme 21:24, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:CSD#A9 for more info on what specifically falls under A9 -- namely, the article's artist must not have a page on-wiki in order for it to be speedy-able. Theopolisme 21:26, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I too remind you that none of "it is not notible, a stub article, not a single, has no awards, is poorly wirrten, and has no citations" is a reason for speedy. And once someone other than the original author has removed a csd tag, you may not replace it. Use AfD for this one. DGG ( talk ) 02:07, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article I'm the Slime has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable musical release. A single review. No evidence of charting. No evidence of awards.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:IkeWillis2.0.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:IkeWillis2.0.jpeg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 22:30, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:CoolioxWonder.jpeg)

Thanks for uploading File:CoolioxWonder.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.
Firstly, I'd like to thank you for asking help for filling in the citations and the editor's barnstar. I've filled in the citations with corresponding templates. I hope that works. (I really liked your work on that article by the way) - Myxomatosis75 (talk) 19:05, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Hello

We've been confused with an issue regarding the origins of alternative rock with another user and currently we are not able to reach a proper concensus. Our debate continues on our talk pages [1] [2] and unfortunately we're yet to carry on this debate on the talk page of alternative rock. Please feel free to join us to reach to a consensus. I thought that you could help us on this topic, as I rely on your knowledge and skills due to your brilliant work on alternative articles and C'mon Billy.

The songs on Paranoid

I don't have a strong opinion on whether those songs should have separate articles or be merged into Paranoid (album), I just felt that they shouldn't be deleted outright since they're at least potential search terms. I'm also generally against prodding an article twice, especially when its deletion could be controversial (and given how famous Black Sabbath is, that's probably the case here). "It Ain't Easy"

Please refrain from deciding that the Ron Davies song page should redirect to Ziggy Stardust. The song has been covered many times, by major artists. And it is a "Ron Davies" song, not a "David Bowie" song. Frank Lynch (talk) 12:51, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The image you uploaded does not meet WP:NFCC criterion #1 because the fair use image has living individuals, and all images of living individuals (unless under extreme circumstances such as the individual not being available to photograph), the image is replaceable. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 05:14, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's fine, a lot of people don't understand the policy on non-free images. Most websites that take photographs like that are copyrighted to the publisher or the photographer. Notability turns out to have little to do with the policy. For images of living individuals, the picture must be released under a free license, because Wikipedia doesn't take images of living people that are copyrighted. When you visit the site, it says "Photo by Larry Busacca/Getty Images for Clear Channel". If it is marked as by Getty Images, then it's copyrighted unless stated otherwise. For the article, we can probably add images of the performers from their main articles since those images are under free licenses. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 05:27, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion sorting

Hi Mrmoustache, when you add an AfD to a delsort page such as you did with Soma (song) at Albums and songs, you need to tag the AfD by adding the relevant tag, in this case {{subst:delsort|Albums and songs|~~~~}} , which will inform editors that it has been listed there & avoid it possibly being listed more then once. Delinking songs without articles

I don't think it's a worthy endeavor to delink song titles that link to their relevant albums because they do not have articles of their own. Unfortunately, there do not seem to be any existing guidelines on the matter, so I have opened a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Songs#Linking songs without articles to try to set one up. Personally, I think allowing links to albums are a good way to (1) get information about a song, even if it's not fully notable enough to have its own article; and (2) disambiguate which song with a given title is being referred to. You are welcome to way in on the discussion, obviously, but I would suggest that your time would be better spent doing tasks other than de-linking song titles that link to albums. Gordon P. Hemsley 03:02, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I only delink them if it brings me to the album page instead of a song page. --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 03:31, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

round numbers are nice

Round numbers are easier to process and remember. I would rather learn that Michael Jackson sold over 1 million copies of a certain single than learn that he sold 1,000,083 copies of the single. The precision of the extra 83 singles doesn't do much. OnBeyondZebrax (talk) 22:23, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's been disputes over genres lately, so I'm trying to establish a consensus for alternative metal to be listed alongside the current genres (hard rock and rap rock). Here is the thread for the poll: Talk:The Hunting Party (album)#Genre Poll Kokoro20 (talk) 09:47, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Thank you very much for the special barnstar! I'm really glad that you liked the articles and I believe that we can collaboratively improve PJ Harvey-related content on Wikipedia. --Myxomatosis57 (talk) 14:19, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Am I Going Insane (Radio)

I see no mention of this song ever charting anywhere, any awards won, or notable cover versions. Simply being released as a single and having 3rd party sources doesn't automatically mean it's notable enough for a standalone article. Caper454 (talk) 23:59, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, "Songs and singles are probably notable if...". I guess it all depends on how one chooses to interpret the guidelines. Caper454 (talk) 12:04, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kate Bush

For PJ Harvey, please find a primary source which is a quote from PJ Harvey. We need an excerpt of an interview from Harvey and wp:STICKTOSOURCE. All the sources present in this '"Comments from other artists section" are primary sources with quotes from those artists. Woovee (talk) 17:18, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding "Category:LGBT Jews" and "Category:LGBT male actors" tags to the Justin Berfield page until and unless you have first added some solid WP:V sources to the article identifying him as gay. Right now there is nothing at all in the article on this topic, and adding such tags to the page without solid sourcing is a severe WP:BLP violation. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. More sources say Afrobeat than Afrobeats, and you should not "correct" them as that is WP:OR because it is not in the source. Regardless, the album includes a collaboration with famous Afrobeat artist Fela Kuti's son Seun Kuti. I think the sources mean to say it's Afrobeat rather than -beats. "With breezy R&B melodies and roomy Afrobeat arrangements to guide her", "The music likewise combines different styles: Afrobeat, reggae, ska", "Age of Pleasure derives influences from afrobeat and reggae", "Touching on dancehall, lover's rock, Afrobeat, '70s disco", "blends Afrobeat, reggae and laidback soul" and "overlaid with bursts of Afrobeat horns"... this isn't just mistaking one for the other.
