Request reason:

I understand the reason for the block and acknowledge Wikipedia's neutrality policy. I am working to create a legitimate article on Andromeda Turre, a notable jazz vocalist and composer, using independent and verifiable references. I will ensure that the content meets Wikipedia's guidelines and avoids promotional language. Please reconsider this block as I aim to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia.

Decline reason:

The use of the phrase "emerging jazz artists" is a very strong indicator that the people you wish to write about likely are not notable as Wikipedia defines a notable musician. Your description about what you want to edit about suggests to me that your interests do not align with Wikipedia's; Wikipedia has no interest in aiding those who decide who gets a Grammy, or in enhancing search results. Those are side effects, not our goal. We don't "highlight achievements", we summarize independent reliable sources say about a topic. You also did not directly answer what your connection to Turre is(as your prior edits suggest you at least have access to her). I believe the reason for the block is correct, and as such I am declining your request. I would want to see you edit in areas unrelated to music before permitting you to edit about these musicians. Perhaps another admin will feel differently, you may make a new request. 331dot (talk) 13:22, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You were blocked five years ago, why are you requesting unblock today? You seem to have an association with Turre; what is the general nature of it? 331dot (talk) 21:52, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing my request. I understand the block was placed five years ago, but I was unaware of it until I recently attempted to contribute again. My interest in creating a page for Andromeda Turre stems from her significant contributions to jazz, which I believe meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines.
I’ve gathered independent and verifiable sources to ensure the article is neutral and encyclopedic. I understand Wikipedia's conflict of interest policies and am committed to adhering to them. If my involvement raises concerns, I’m happy to submit a draft for review by other editors instead of publishing it directly. Meruba ny (talk) 20:37, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Besides that, would you contribute about other subjects? 331dot (talk) 22:26, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I plan to contribute about other emerging jazz artists who currently lack a presence on Wikipedia. It’s important to highlight their achievements, as platforms like Wikipedia provide visibility and credibility, especially for initiatives like the Grammys, where voters and fans often search for artist information. My goal is to ensure these artists are accurately represented, adhering to Wikipedia’s standards of neutrality.
If you’d like, I’m more than happy to share the draft for Mrs. Turre first to ensure it meets all guidelines before proceeding. Meruba ny (talk) 12:50, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot - Thank you for your feedback. With the additional block, it has become increasingly difficult for me to participate and contribute anything meaningful to Wikipedia. I approached this process with good intentions and a genuine desire to add to the knowledge base, but I now realize I may not have explained myself adequately.
This experience feels unnecessarily challenging, and I no longer feel capable of navigating it. As such, I will be requesting the removal of my account and will instead explore professional services to create the pages on topics where I have expertise, ensuring they are aligned with Wikipedia’s standards.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Meruba ny (talk) 15:38, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you mean by "additional block".
It is not possible to remove or delete an account, as all edits must be attributable to someone. You may abandon your account if desired.
Seeking out others to edit for you is a form of sock puppetry. They will be blocked as well.
Beware in seeking out Wikipedia editing services for hire. They have varying reputability, and many are scams. (See WP:SCAM) In addition, they must comply with WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 15:51, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your continued responses. I’m finding it difficult to understand why I’m facing such challenges in attempting to contribute constructively. For instance, I noticed that an artist like Caity Gyorgy has a Wikipedia page without issue (Caity Gyorgy), yet when I attempt to create a similar page for Andromeda Turre — who has notable achievements documented in sources like Global Music Awards and South Arts — it feels as though this effort is being unnecessarily blocked.
These achievements are well-documented, independent, and verifiable, and I’m unsure why there seems to be resistance to including this information within Wikipedia. I’m happy to adjust my approach to ensure compliance with Wikipedia’s guidelines but would appreciate clarification on why this process has been so difficult.
The reason I’m advocating for a page on Andromeda Turre is the lack of representation or linkage on her father’s page (Steve Turre). She is a notable artist in her own right, and this absence feels like a missed opportunity to document her contributions to jazz.
As a jazz fan living in NYC, I occasionally see the Turres in concerts, but my intent is to highlight deserving artists whose work isn’t yet represented on Wikipedia. For example, bassist Endea Owens has been a longstanding member of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s band but also lacks proper representation. She, too, is on my list of artists to document, as I believe these individuals contribute significantly to their fields and deserve recognition.
I’m happy to comply with Wikipedia’s guidelines and provide reliable, verifiable sources to ensure neutrality and accuracy. I hope this clarifies my intentions and would appreciate any guidance on how to move forward constructively. Meruba ny (talk) 16:52, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your way forward is to make a new unblock request. You'll need to speak to your edit summary from your first attempt("because all content was written myself and sourced directly from Andromeda Turre herself.") You seem to be more than a casual fan. 331dot (talk) 18:01, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Thank you for your feedback and the chance to clarify my intentions. I acknowledge that my initial edit summary (“because all content was written myself and sourced directly from Andromeda Turre herself”) was poorly phrased and did not align with Wikipedia’s requirements for neutrality and independent sourcing. Five years ago, I likely copied a website’s bio and attempted to create a page without understanding Wikipedia’s guidelines on notability, neutrality, or reliable sourcing. Since then, I have gained more awareness of Wikipedia’s policies and now have tools and resources to ensure any contributions I make comply with its standards. I am a jazz blogger and have met some of the artists I wish to document, but I believe this does not inherently create a conflict of interest if I adhere strictly to independent, verifiable sources and maintain a neutral tone. Unlocking my sandbox would allow me to showcase the quality of the work I aim to deliver and demonstrate that I can produce neutral, policy-compliant content. I respectfully request the opportunity to contribute responsibly and build trust within the community. Thank you for considering my request. Meruba ny (talk) 20:43, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have unblocked you. Welcome back. PhilKnight (talk) 20:41, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

While you await a decision with your latest unblock request, you should have a look at these pages to help you learn more about what makes an artist merit (or not merit) inclusion on Wikipedia:

The blocking admin no longer edits, so 331dot and Drm310 what do you think about a possible unblock? PhilKnight (talk) 19:46, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PhilKnight: Not an admin myself - but based on the user's unblock statements, I would be OK with unblocking. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:49, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My views are unchanged from my decline message, and they have been vague about COI, but I'm happy for you to handle this as you see fit. It may be that we need to see them edit first. 331dot (talk) 20:38, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for considering my request. I want to approach this responsibly. More than happy to draft pages in my sandbox first and tag you for review before any submission. This way, I can demonstrate my commitment to adhering to Wikipedia’s neutrality and sourcing guidelines. Meruba ny (talk) 17:40, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
