Re: Georgia O'Keeffe

I restored the Wisconsin project tag to this biography. I am at a loss understanding why you removed it. Viriditas (talk) 22:48, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

"Georgia Totto O'Keeffe (1887-1986) was a world-renowned artist born in Sun Prairie, who leaned on her Wisconsin upbringing and strength to make her way in a predominately male art world. Known as "The Mother of American Modernism," Georgia O'Keeffe is remembered as a daughter of Sun Prairie with a historical marker where her house once stood, an avenue with her name, and a dedicated room in our museum. The Museum's current exhibit highlights her relationships with family, art, and the City of Sun Prairie. The Museum is also the first stop on a virtual driving tour of Georgia O'Keeffe's Formative World."[1][2] Viriditas (talk) 22:56, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

::You know, that's completely fair. It was a case of moving too fast. M4V3R1CK32 (talk) 13:01, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

@Viriditas: the Wikipedia article does a poor job connecting O'Keeffe to Wisconsin and should be updated to reflect the information you've shared. The article says O'Keeffe was born there, moved away when she was 15, and a middle school is named after her. There isn't a clear significant connection between the state and the person. I will take your criticism to heart and make some changes. I do think the early life section does connect O'Keeffe to Wisconsin, but as you say, much more can be done. Part of the problem here is that the daughter articles about O'Keeffe have far more information than the parent. This is because the main article suffers from too many cooks in the kitchen. I've tried to work with some of these other writers, but they haven't been too receptive to collaboration, perhaps because they've been busy doing other things, which is understandable. So I'm afraid that the only way forward is to fix it myself. Towards this end, I find that working backwards, for example, writing the daughter article first (Early life of Georgia O'Keeffe) and then adding the relevant info to the parent, tends to work best, although I suspect most people would do it the other way around. It is always tough when we're off doing our own things. I think either approach could work. I'd be happy to collab as I can on the O'Keeffe article. I'm surprised it is not yet a GA and I'd be more than happy to help get it up to that level. M4V3R1CK32 (talk) 13:47, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
