Notability of CJT
A tag has been placed on CJT requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 12:31, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
What's the point of deleting stuff?
Wikipedia has a choice: it could be a sort of general bulletin-board-cum-social-networking-site where anybody can post anything they like about themself, their band, their best friend; but it has decided to be an encyclopedia, and that means having standards about what sort of articles to allow, and deleting ones that don't qualify. You can read more in WP:ENC, WP:NOT, Notability (music), and the List of Bad Article Ideas. The guide to writing Your First Article is helpful, too. Speedy deletion of Please Y'self
A tag has been placed on Please Y'self requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Mr. Vernon (talk) 13:52, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi; first, please sign your comments when you leave messages on a talk page. You can do that by adding ~~~~ at the end. Second, if you feel the band is notable, put a hangon on the page, and explain why on the talk page. If the band is notable - please read WP:BAND for guidelines - the article will stay. Have a nice day :) --Mr. Vernon (talk) 14:48, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
I've fixed the hangon tag. Go to the talk page and make your case. I couldn't find much in the way of "secondary sources" on the band (news clippings); if you have them, add a link to them. Same with records and CDs. There are a TON of bands who try to put themselves on Wikipedia, which is why you have to be notable and "stand out" from the crowd. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 14:55, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
I know, but you have to prove that the band is notable. Otherwise any band could claim that they were huge once, but no articles exist anymore. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 15:01, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Take a look at this new article - Tokyo_Dragons. That's how you make a pretty good band page. Note that they have links to prove that they had chart-topping hits. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 15:04, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
So add that newspaper article to the page. If you have any articles about their tours or popularity/fanbase, add that too. The more you have, the more you can establish notability. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 15:09, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

I have nominated Please Y'self, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Please Y'self. Image copyright problem with File:SUevisiot.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:SUevisiot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like PD-self (to release all rights), CC-by-sa-3.0
(to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 19:52, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- No. The image tag must be used for all images, however if you made it yourself, as I said above, you can use PD-self to release all rights and put your image into the public domain or
CC-by-sa-3.0
to reserve some rights, including that the image be credited to you any time it is used. You can also retain all copyright rights by using non-free album cover and adding a fair use rationale for its use on each Wikipedia article. ST47 (talk) 23:34, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your message on my page. You seem to have a problem with the article about pi. I suggest that you digest carefully this statement: pi is the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter. That is from the first sentence of the article. You may or may not want more information, and you may or may not be able to comprehend more information about pi. Unfortunately your comment at Talk:pi sounds like a bad mannered attack on anyone who does comprehend what you do not, where you use unkind terms such as "total nerds" and "pointless and gawky". Given that you display boxes saying that you are a teenager (believable) and a mathematician (dubious), an attitude adjustment on your part is called for. I'm sorry if I've caused offence. I haven't ever been to a football match, but the fact remains that their nickname is the Rams, a stylised ram is on their badge, the ram is the symbol of Derby (as well as the Buck i'the Park) and it is connected to the old folk song. Welcoming new users
Hi Andrew R, thank you for your help welcoming new users. I noticed, however, that you are leaving some welcome messages before a new user ever makes an edit. This is generally discouraged because a) It might turn out you are welcoming a vandal account; and b) A lot of new accounts never edit at all, and then you are just creating talkpages for accounts that will never use them.
Anyway, it's generally best to wait until you see a user's "contribs" link to become blue...then you can see what they're doing, and if it's a constructive edit you can welcome them, and if it's an unconstructive edit you can warn them (if it's blatant vandalism) or familiarize them with policies (if it's just a misunderstanding of WP policy). Thanks, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 13:31, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

We have to be neutral, Andrew. We just report what reliable sources says -- all points of view. As it happens, pretty much all sources agree on this one, so far. My point about neutrality was more about the language. If we keep the language dry and neutral, it's more encyclopedic, and it doesn't detract from the facts. Language that isn't purely descriptive makes readers wonder what's going on. SlimVirgin talk|contribs 21:09, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Re: How Do You Do That?
Hi!
OK, first question - not sure! What do you mean by "user thingy"? I can think of a user box I have, or possibly my signature - signature maybe? I didn't think it was that odd but if so let me know and I'll run you through how to change it.
Second question - yes, I believe so. Some users have different accounts for home and work (where they may be using a less secure computer). Best bet is to be completely upfront about it, and acknowledge on your userpage that you're using multiple accounts. I only use one, but if I has another account I'd list it on my main account's userpage (and I'd also list my main account on my secondary account's userpage).
Hope that helps - let me know what you meant with question one and I'll try and help!

- Aha! OK, fairly easy answer, though it's not necessarily that easy to do (it helps if you understand a bit of HTML and wiki-markup). Firstly, you need to go to "my preferences" (at the top of the screen) - you should then start at the "User profile" tab. Scroll down to the "Raw signature" checkbox and make sure it's checked. Then enter some wiki markup in the "Signature" box above the checkbox (this is the tricky bit). I found it easier to copy other editors' raw signatures - click "edit" above my signature, for example, and you'll see the raw markup I use. Change their username to yours, change any colours that you want, and then click "Save" at the bottom of the "User profile" tab. I test my new signatures on my talk page (using "preview" instead of "save"), but you can test signatures anywhere.
- If it helps, this is the raw markup I use for my signature:
- <b style="color:#000">This flag once was red</b><span style="color:#f00">propaganda</span>deeds
- That basically means "link to my userpage by displaying my username in black bold text, then link to my talkpage by displaying "propaganda" in red "superscript" (raised) text, then link to my contributions by displaying "deeds" in "subscript" (lowered) text." I don't specify the colour of the last link as I ran out of space for extra markup, so it defaults to the usual Wikipedia colour for a link.
- There's a limit to the number of characters you can use; since I have quite a long username I find it a bit limiting at times.
- Hope that helps!

Hi!
No, I haven't ever been RfA'd, and while I'm flattered you think I'm up to it, I'm not completely certain myself yet. My instinct is that I need to spend more time in different areas before I'd be a good candidate.
Questions like yours go a long way in making me think I'm gaining experience and doing stuff right, though!

- You put forward the idea that people want to delete the article on Shaheen Jafargholi because he isn't American. That is as much of a bad faith argument as can be made. Add to that, you called the nomination "pathetic", which is an uncivil comment to make. Re: Should I...
Hi!
As best I can recall, our only contact has been an amiable discussion about signatures, and although I've only had a cursory glance at your contributions I can't see much in the way of you upsetting people - certainly you've never upset me!
By "RFA'd", do you mean WP:RFA? (I assume you do, but wanted to check before I make too much of an idiot of myself). Assuming you do, I'd recommend having a read of Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship before proceeding - I read it just now for the first time, and the big thing that jumped out at me was "in 2008 only a dozen candidates with between 3,000 and 4,500 edits succeeded and only one with less than 3,000 edits" - I notice you have less than 1000 edits, so I'd caution you against an RFA just yet (unless you can point to an account you've previously used). I'd suggest trying in particular to boost your edits to "article space". I notice you participate in Articles for Deletion; that's excellent, and I'd recommend you continue that. You should also try and get a wider exposure to similar areas, perhaps some of the dispute resolution pages. I don't know whether you read WP:AN or WP:ANI at all, but following the threads on those two pages would be valuable, too. However, I supported a candidate for adminship recently who withdrew amidst strong opposition, in part because they were seen as being too involved with WP:ANI - so reading, not posting, may be advisable there! You mention upsetting other editors: if you can build bridges with as many as possible by editing collaboratively with them then that would be excellent: this RfA succeeded, I believe, because the candidate's first "support" !vote was from an editor with whom the candidate had very publicly clashed in the past. (Incidentally, having a look at some of the successful RfAs from the past and current RfAs would be an excellent way to get "a feel" for what issues !voters are looking for).
Hopefully I've not just made a complete idiot of myself! Let me know if I have; I have a thick skin and would be glad if I can.

Speedy deletion nomination of La roux without make up
A tag has been placed on La roux without make up requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Angel heartz
A tag has been placed on Angel heartz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

Zo veel talen!
Vertel mij eens waar jij als tiener zo veel talen geleerd hebt? Pools, Duits, Nederlands en Zweeds o.a. Ik vraag het omdat de meeste Britse tieners vaak al genoeg problemen hebben met hun moedertaal, nevermind learning any other languages (I know this cos I was one). Since you are still at school, I would suggest that a level 1 language box is comparable to GCSE, 2 to A-level and 3 to Degree level. ;) I guess you are probably bragging, based on the rest of your communications. You seem to have claimed to have been a mathematician at some point. If you were you would presumably be a professional or at least a talented amateur and would at least be able to prove that the volume of a sphere is 4.PI.r^3/3. Kunt ge dat doen? Ik vermoed van nie! Wait and grow up a bit more before claiming to be so magnificent, people will take you more seriously 1812ahill (talk) 17:45, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Added template for SuggestBot
Hi,
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 23:27, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
