Self-closed tags and bold markup

I just edited 3 of your userboxes changing <B>...<B /> to <B>...</B>. Tags are closed with a slash at the beginning, not at the end. A slash at the end means the tag is opened and closed all in one step. For example, <ref name="Smith 2020" /> means <ref name="Smith 2020"></ref>, opening and closing the reference in one step. It is useful for a few tags such as <ref>, but it's inappropriate for font markup tags such as bold and italics. And by the way, in Wikipedia, the preferred way to mark up bold is with three apostrophes, viz:

'''This is bold'''This is bold

and similarly the preferred way to mark up italics is with two apostrophes, viz:

''This is italic''This is italic

Information icon Hello, I'm IAmChaos. I noticed that you recently removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.

Hi, I saw your edit at Earthquake cycle. Please see my edit summary at en:Special:Diff/1072074137. If you want to create an article, please feel free to put it at that page or create it at en:Draft:Earthquake Cycle, but try not to leave blank article pages in the meantime.
