Saturday March 11: Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon @ MoMA | |
---|---|
Join us at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Education and Research Building at the Museum of Modern Art, 4 West 54th Street, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. There will be childcare, snacks, multiple trainings and panel discussions. People of all gender identities and expressions welcomed and encouraged to attend. This year’s edit-a-thon kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a conversation about information activism with writer Joanne McNeil and Data & Society Research Institute Fellow Zara Rahman, moderated by Kimberly Drew, the social media manager for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, creator of the Tumblr “Black Contemporary Art,” and the person behind @museummammy on Instagram. Afternoon breakout groups will engage in focused discussions about related issues, including intersectionality and librarianship, power structures in notability guidelines on Wikipedia, and radical archives. --Pharos (talk) 18:45, 7 March 2017 (UTC) And a broader calendar of events on the theme this week/weekend, and the next:

Service award for article creation
You are one of a tiny number of editors selected at random from those who have created a good number of articles. There is some preliminary discussion about creating an award for article creation, and your input would be helpful. See the discussion HERE. The posts toward the end are the most germane. Sunday March 26: Action=History Wiki-Hackathon @ Ace Hotel
Sunday March 26: Action=History Wiki-Hackathon @ Ace Hotel | |
---|---|
On the last Sunday of every month, the Boardroom at Ace Hotel New York hosts Action Equals History — a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to learn hands-on in a technology training/workshop session about the mechanics, practices and benefits of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history. For this month, and following on the recent Art+Feminism campaign, we'll focus on building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Towards a goal of advancing these tools for wider use with diverse local groups.
Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) 05:13, 21 March 2017 (UTC) |

Tillman School
I noticed your change to Tillman School, linking to a website about the local historic society. I didn't see anything on the website saying that they own the Tillman School. They have the Sinclair Service Station (Ridgeland, South Carolina). Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 22:56, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, I visited the Sinclair Service Station a few weeks ago and snapped some pics of that place before I knew that you snapped those. I told a female volunteer about my ambition to capture both sites, and she told me they own the school as well. They also had an exhibit that contained both sites. I should post them and expand the gallery for the station, in fact I will before May. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 23:01, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 5
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Examples of yellowface, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Don McDougall. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-9pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop at Babycastles gallery by 14th Street / Union Square in Manhattan. Missouri route log
Not sure if you're aware of Missouri's route log, but here it is: http://traveler.modot.mo.gov/hpmaps/ In the search box, you type in, for instance, "MO 179 E" ("IS" for Interstate, "US" for US, "MO" for Missouri, and "RT" for supplemental routes; the E is for eastbound). Then you click the filter button to the right and a box will pop up asking you which route you want. I always pick the entire route, but you can go by county as well. Then it will highlight the route similar to how KMLs highlight over Google Maps. From there, you click the Show Log Book button and you get every single milepost along the highway.
It's one of my favorite route logs out there because you don't have to do any math once you figure out what route you need. –Fredddie™
- Oh, and then to cite it, we have
{{MoDOT Flex}}
. –Fredddie™ 19:37, 30 April 2017 (UTC)- I tried picking the whole route, but it still didn't let me save a specific link for it. The most I was able to do was save the link to the general route log. :( ---------User:DanTD (talk) 20:53, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah. Unfortunately, you can't save it. –Fredddie™ 20:59, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Speaking of Missouri state routes, is there any chance you could whip up an alternate route parameter in the templates for them, so I can add [[Missouri Route 240 Alternate (Howard County) to that list? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 23:34, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah. Unfortunately, you can't save it. –Fredddie™ 20:59, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Route 240 Alt. (MO-Alt) / Route 240 Alt. (Route-Alt) –Fredddie™ 23:48, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wasn't able to find the parameters. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 00:07, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
